Job summary

Wunder is hiring a detail-oriented engineer for our Boulder, CO headquarters. This in-office role focuses on creating and reviewing solar designs, leveraging AutoCAD and Helioscope, and coordinating with utilities, AHJs, subcontractors, and clients to push our sub-megawatt market standardization.

You will contribute to design reviews, site visits, and production models while navigating a fast-paced, growth-focused environment in Colorado. Remote work is not offered for this position.

Qualifications

• 0–2+ years designing solar systems or recent graduate with relevant internship/experience.
• Collaborate with subcontractors, EPC partners, and cross-functional teams.
• Strong technical background; able to explain complex topics to non-technical audiences.
• Experience with AutoCAD or willingness to learn; familiarity with Helioscope is a plus.

*This is a full-time, in-office position at our Boulder, CO headquarters. We are not offering remote or hybrid options for this role.

Wunder is actively developing hundreds of commercial solar projects across the country. Wunder’s proprietary technology platform enables us to develop solar at scale, across a portfolio that includes everything from self-storage facilities and schools to data centers and industrial logistics facilities. Our average solar system—about 430 kilowatts in size—can offset 350,000 pounds of coal burned each year of system operation!

The Role

We have an amazing opportunity for a detail-oriented engineer to solve hard problems and push renewable energy forward. We’re looking for someone who works quickly and efficiently, has an eye for detail, and isn’t afraid of a challenge. Our project development team is rapidly acquiring commercial customers and developing solar across the country alongside our national network of solar partners, and we need your help!

Specifically, you’ll be a key contributor to the in-house development engineering at Wunder, creating and reviewing designs and production models, interfacing with systems like Helioscope, AutoCAD, conducting site visits to gather design information, and more. This role is responsible for performing a host of duties on engineering deliverables and monitoring progress on design reviews and deadlines. You’ll also be collaborating with the team on interconnection processes with utilities, permitting with AHJ’s, and coordinating with subcontractors, and clients. Most importantly, you’ll go beyond a traditional engineering role as you will also bring standardization into the untapped sub-megawatt commercial and industrial market by leveraging Wunder’s industry-leading technology platform.

About You

• A Strong Foundation - You have 0–2+ years of experience designing solar systems or are a recent graduate with a solid foundation of career experience from a previous internship, part time, or full time role. This could be in Electrical Engineering, Solar Development, or anything that provided you with the tools and resources to be comfortable creating and reviewing design work and collaborating cross-functionally. EIT Certification or FE completion is a plus.
• You’re a Collaborator - You're excited to collaborate on all things related to engineering and design of our solar projects, whether that's managing the relationships and the work of our subcontractors and our EPC partners, or rolling up your sleeves and designing in AutoCAD yourself.
• You’re Technical - You have a strong technical background and the ability to communicate complex technical topics to a less technical audience. You have experience in AutoCAD or computer-based drafting or are eager to learn.
• You’re Detail Oriented - You know that the devil is in the details and you go the extra mile to ensure all your i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed. You are able to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once while not letting any balls drop.

Salary & Equity

The salary range for this role is $65,000–$95,000 per year, plus equity in the form of stock options. Wunder determines the successful candidate's compensation package throughout the interview process based on experience and expertise, and the final compensation package will be discussed with the candidate during the final stages of the interview process.
