The University of Kansas Health System is seeking an Associate Development Director to lead mid- and major-gift fundraising efforts and move donors along the giving continuum. You will work with hospital leadership and fund development staff to advance priorities and craft compelling proposals.

Responsibilities include discovery, cultivation, qualification, solicitation, and stewardship; setting fundraising goals; and nurturing relationships with grateful patients, foundations, and corporations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required from an accredited college or university.
  • 3+ years progressive fund-raising experience.
  • 1+ year Raiser's Edge or similar system experience.

Position Summary / Career Interest:

The Associate Development Director is responsible for the acquisition and retention of mid - tier and major gifts for The University of Kansas Health System. A key to success will be a proven ability move prospects along the donor continuum and having excellent communication and listening skills. This position reports to the Development Director.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Works in collaboration with a team of individuals, including hospital and service line leadership, physicians, and fund development staff to support health system priorities.
  • Actively participates in the discovery, cultivation, qualification, solicitation and stewardship of mid- tier and major gift prospects/donors, which include grateful patients, third party fundraising events, corporations, and foundations.
  • Assists with advisory boards and community volunteers engaged in cultivating donor support and educating about TUKHS Researches, prepares, and presents proposals to donors.
  • Assists the Development Director, Senior Development Director, and Vice President for Development with the implementation of the department’s development initiatives and long-term fundraising plans for The University of Kansas Health System.
  • Responsible for setting fundraising goals and able to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
  • Displays a positive attitude, shows empathy for people and community, and demonstrates presence, self-confidence, common sense, and good listening ability. Actively seeks to deepen current donor relationships and to develop new ones.
  • Demonstrate excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and strong organization and planning skills.
  • Possess innate ability for resourcefulness in evaluating problems, obtaining information, and overcoming obstacles to conduct assignments with skill and tact. Makes presentations, lead, and participate in meetings, gain the commitment of others, and communicate in a leadership environment.
  • Responsible for treating confidential information with a high level of discretion.
  • Responsible for having computer skills and update donors’ interaction in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Public Relations business Management or a related field of study from an accredited College or University.
  • 3 or more years of progressive fund-raising experience.
  • 1 or more years of working in Raiser's Edge or a similar system.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • 3 or more years of successful major gift fund raising.
