Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in nursing or related field is required.
  • A research doctorate is required for tenured candidates.
  • Qualified for Associate Professor (tenured) or Full Clinical Professor (non-tenure track).
  • Current New York State RN license is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of full-time nursing leadership experience.
  • Experience with nursing program curriculum, evaluation, and accreditation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic leadership for the Nursing Programs and participate in strategic direction.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administrators to advance the Nursing Programs’ mission.
  • Oversee clinical education and clinical affairs within the Nursing Programs.
  • Manage daily operations and support budget planning and resource allocation.
  • Ensure regulatory, licensing, and accreditation compliance; prepare reports for reviews and visits.
  • Lead evaluation of student outcomes and reporting to state and accrediting bodies.
  • Chair the Nursing Assessment Committee and mentor faculty in assessment and scholarship.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

The Katz School of Science and Health is seeking an Associate Dean for Nursing for our Nursing Program. The Associate Dean for Nursing serves as a senior academic leader within the Nursing Programs, participating in visionary direction for academic excellence, program effectiveness, and daily nursing operations. The Associate Dean is responsible for the oversight and development of the nursing faculty, setting course schedules, participating in nursing governance, contributing to curriculum and policy review and revision, teaching in courses or conducting research (tenured candidates) based upon expertise, and assisting in ensuring the programs meet state regulatory and national accreditation standards. Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Dean, the Associate Dean works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators to advance the Nursing Programs’ mission.

Position Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership
  • This is an essential leadership position and requires on-campus presence and weekly schedule flexibility to accommodate responsibilities to meet the demands of the Nursing Programs and to support the Senior Associate Dean.
  • Work in collaboration with the Senior Associate Dean, advancing the mission and vision of the Nursing Programs.
  • Support faculty in implementing evidence-based teaching practices and integrating outcomes assessment.
  • Oversee Clinical Education & Clinical Affairs.
Administration & Operations
  • Oversee daily operations in Nursing Programs.
  • Assist in budget preparation, resource allocation, and strategic planning.
Accreditation & Compliance
  • Work with nursing leadership and faculty to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, licensing bodies, and accreditation requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, self-studies, and documentation for program review and accreditation visits.
  • Monitor evolving accreditation standards.
Evaluation & OutcomesAssessment
  • Management of the comprehensive evaluation plan for all nursing academic programs, ensuring alignment with AACN Essentials (2021).
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of student learning outcomes, licensure pass rates, retention/graduation rates, and post-graduation employment data.
  • Prepare and submit accurate, timely reports to state, federal, and accrediting agencies.
  • Chair the Nursing Assessment Committee and disseminate relevant information to nursing leadership and its members.
  • Assist in mentoring faculty and staff in assessment, program evaluation, innovation, and scholarly dissemination related to educational outcomes

Experience & Educational Background:
Required Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree required (PhD, EdD, or DNP).
  • A research doctorate is required for tenured candidates.
  • Qualify for a minimum academic appointment of Associate Professor (tenured) or Full Clinical Professor (non-tenure track).
  • Current/unencumbered New York state RN license.
  • Five (5) years of recent full-time nursing leadership experience.
  • Experience in Nursing Program curriculum, evaluation, and accreditation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with continuing professional development and interprofessional education.
  • Experience with scholarship and grant acquisition.
  • Applicants must have knowledge of the structure and organization of health and education systems
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • The ability to multitask and work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Understanding of and appreciation for tenets of professionalism, confidentiality, and respect
  • Capability to show a high level of dedication by meticulous follow-through with commitment, in a reliable and communicative manner.
Salary Range:

$170,000 - $200,000
