Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, this role provides leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, review, and evaluation of the outcomes of the efforts of the university and its colleges in areas of admissions, faculty assessment and distribution, curriculum, teaching methods, student assessment, and overall learning outcomes. This incumbent will take an active role in shaping the vision of the student, faculty, and organizational outcomes that support the mission of KHSU-KansasCOM. Working across organizations and groups, the position will assist in defining and refining program outcomes.
Specific Responsibilities
- Advise KHSU-KansasCOM administration on the campus resources, function, and flow to ensure that the building meets/exceeds the academic requirements to provide for faculty and student success, creating a physical environment conducive to collaboration and learning
- Review and advise on the planning, staffing, resources, and technology required to advance the mission and vision of the university and constituting colleges.
- Advise and guide the development of the curriculum and programs to meet the mission and vision of the colleges by providing assessment of requirements, preparation, and outcomes of its efforts.
- Collaborate with IT to identify the most appropriate software to be used in the school and to ensure the best applications, integrations, and services to fulfill the school’s missions and goals.
- Lead the creation of a team that will assist academic affairs, student affairs, faculty, and research in identifying outcome measures.

- Assist academic affairs, student affairs, faculty, and research in identifying systems (i.e., software, workflows) to record identified outcomes.
- Provide leadership in he assessment of the curriculum, its outcomes and efficiency related to the development of students, success with outside accreditation and evaluation standards, and growth and development of the faculty and staff
- Assist the Deans in developing, implementing, and overseeing student assessment regarding outcomes, success, deficiencies, etc.
- Supervise and provide testing processes and procedures for the pre-clinical medical student testing and assessment requirements, including oversight of national, standardized, normative and board type assessments.
- Incorporating best practices of digital assessment.
- Supervise the administration of subject exams and clinical curriculum content delivery.
- Work with the Dean/CAO and the President to identify organizational outcome goals and success with established mission and vision of the university and its colleges. (e.g., GME match rates, medical disciplines selected, certification rates, student placement in Kansas after residency; impact on community health)
- Create a database and collect data from academic affairs, student affairs, faculty affairs, and research for internal/external reporting purposes for the board, the accreditation agencies, state BOR, etc..
- Lead the process and provide training in the application of outcome measures for continuous quality assessment and continuous quality improvement for the colleges assessment of outcomes, curriculum, research, etc.
- Work with the Director of Graduate Medical Education (GME) to identify future GME programs that support the KHSU-KansasCOM.
- Serve on selected committees at the discretion of the Dean/CAO.
- Assist the Dean/CAO in accreditation functions, including document creation, data collection, data entry, education of faculty on accreditation, and other accreditation-related tasks at the discretion of the Dean/CAO.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Oversees the Education Director of Testing Services, Academic Systems Analyst, and Curricular Specialist.
Qualification(s)
- A proven academic leader with a demonstrated history of effective academic and administrative experience, achieving educational outcomes in environments demanding high academic standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in an educational or business degree related field preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of academic experience in a healthcare learning environment is required.
- Skilled in developing and implementing assessment and outcome measures.
- Proficient in utilizing software systems designed for student assessment.
- Experienced in designing and managing software systems for collecting and analyzing outcome data.
- Familiarity with the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) and WSCUC requirements.
- Experience with medical school, KBOR, WSCUC, and other health professions accreditation requirements and reporting.
