Job summary

SMBC Group in Jersey City, NJ is seeking an Associate, Database Administration & Design to design, develop, and deploy cloud-based data solutions for risk, regulatory, finance, and compliance initiatives. This role supports the move from on-premises to cloud platforms and provides mentorship to junior team members.

Hybrid remote work is permitted. The role requires a Master’s degree and 7+ years of experience with Azure, GCP, AWS, SDLC, DevOps, SQL, data modeling, and Python.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in applied computer science, or a related field plus 7 years of experience.
• Experience must include cloud technologies including Azure (ADF, Databricks, Azure SQL, Microsoft Entra ID), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Amazon Web Services (AWS); SDLC processes and DevOps practices; SQL and data modeling techniques; Python programming.
• The required skill set does not need to be maintained over the full term of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy cloud-based data solutions for risk, regulatory, finance, and compliance initiatives, while supporting the organization’s transition from on-premises infrastructure to cloud platforms.
• Provide indirect leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
• Collaborate with business teams, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements, identify needs, and address process gaps through proposed applications and technology solutions.
• Work closely with IT system architects, database administrators, and cybersecurity teams to ensure that application designs meet backend functionality, performance, and security requirements.
• Coordinate with other technology and development teams to integrate applications within the broader enterprise software ecosystem.

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $172,994.00and $178,184.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
