Job summary

Vast leads the development of next-generation space stations and is seeking an Associate Creative Director, Brand & Design in Long Beach. You will build the creative standard, mentor a small design team, and directly craft work while guiding broader brand initiatives.

You will translate complex technical concepts into compelling visual narratives and partner with cross-functional teams to drive impact across campaigns and moments in Vast’s evolving space economy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience in brand, design, art direction, or related creative discipline, with a track record of producing high-quality work.
• Strong portfolio across multiple channels showing hands‑on craft and innovative, technically minded work.
• Experience in a fast-paced environment with speed, volume, and ambiguity.
• Experience managing a small design team and mentoring team members.
• Ability translating business objectives and audience insights into executable creative.
• Experience partnering with cross‑functional teams including marketing, communications, product, engineering, operations, and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve Vast's brand design standards and ensure the team's output meets them daily.
• Manage a small design team: give feedback, run reviews, set clear direction.
• Contribute hands‑on design work when needed to move projects forward.
• Lead creative work from concept through final execution across brand initiatives.
• Translate business goals into actionable creative direction for the team.
• Collaborate with marketing, product, engineering, and leadership to maximize impact.
• Mentor designers in craft and judgment to raise overall output.
• Present creative direction to stakeholders and maintain quality under pressure.
