The ACD has taken a major step forward in their career and in their level of responsibility within the agency. The role demands an ability to lead teams rather than manage. This entails mentorship (active and passive); inspiring confidence when the team is “up against it” by solving problems before they negativelyimpactthe team or the work. It entails taking the lead when others may want to shrink in times of challenge/adversity. The “big picture” is ever-present in your day-to-day efforts but making sure the team never loses sight of the “details” is also your responsibility. At this level, it is now incumbent upon you to hold the entire team accountable (including yourself) for agency hygiene and creative excellence. Ensuring the health of the agency now influences decisions you will make or recommend.
