Job Description

Dotdotdash is an experience innovation agency leading brands into new spaces. We thrive at the intersection of culture and technology — crafting distinctive, connected and impactful customer experiences across the entire brand ecosystem.

At dotdotdash, we are more than marketers; we are explorers, innovators and creators of what’s next. Our name, inspired by morse code — a simple yet revolutionary medium of communication — reflects the core of what we create: multisensory experiences that communicate brand messages people can see, touch, hear and interact with. Narratives that resonate and empower audiences to engage and spread on their own terms. We’re seeking to grow our team with individuals who share our passion for tangible creativity, our commitment to pushing Boundaries, And Our Belief In The Power Of Participatory Experiences. At The Heart Of Everything We Do Are The Principles That Guide How We Create And Collaborate.

  • Play. We embrace curiosity, experimentation and fun in our work and our partnerships.

  • Take Risks. We challenge the status quo and take informed risks to push boundaries.

  • Stay Humble. We lead through example, listening and learning.

  • Adapt. We evolve at the pace of culture and technology.

  • Be Diligent. We commit to persistence and details through delivery.

As an Associate Creative Director (Art & Design) at dotdotdash, you inspire and lead teams to create inventive work across digital, physical, and immersive spaces. ACDs are both players and coaches. They’re creatives who are hands‑on with craft, and they’re also leaders, mentors and culture‑creators, ensuring collaboration and excellence from teams made up of diverse and cutting‑edge writers, designers and technologists.

You’ll direct, oversee (and do) art direction, design and concept work across campaigns, experiences and activations, ensuring all touchpoints deliver impactful storytelling, industry‑first innovations and top‑tier execution. You’ll also work behind the scenes to build teams, align with production requirements, and build client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the creative vision for multiple projects, managing teams, and setting up a high bar for craft and storytelling.

  • Inspire and generate innovative, ambitious creative ideas through interdisciplinary collaboration.

  • Author client-ready narratives, building trust and credibility in every interaction.

  • Originate art direction and design concepts for various mediums and platforms.

  • Design and architect brand design systems that scale seamlessly across platforms.

  • Act as a trusted partner to clients, providing strategic and creative counsel to address brand challenges.

  • Mentor and empower art directors and designers across levels, fostering an environment of growth, creativity, and inclusivity.

  • Lead by example by staying on top of trends, cultural conversations, and emerging platforms and technologies—continually fueling dotdotdash’s culture of creativity and inspiration.

  • Balance hands‑on design work with leadership responsibilities, making critical decisions to move projects forward.

  • Oversee and guide projects from inception to execution—informing team casting, managing creative workflows, and ensuring deadlines and deliverables align with strategic and creative goals.

  • Be a champion of experimentation and play, in cultural expression as well as tech implementation. Bring new ideas, new stories and new toys to the team to stay ahead of culture and write the future.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in art direction or design, with at least 2 years in a leadership role (ACD or equivalent).

  • Very strong conceptual mindset, continually generating, refining and articulating ideas that transform brands and culture.

  • An impeccable level of craft and care.

  • A robust portfolio showcasing award-winning work across multi-channel campaigns, digital platforms, interactive experiences, and projects leveraging emergent technologies.

  • You’re skilled in using AI to generate work, but you also have experience crafting experiences and concepts that use AI in interesting, insightful ways to deliver for consumers and clients.

  • Knowledgeable in leveraging AI tools and platforms to enhance creative ideation and design production, such as: Nano Banana, MidJourney, VEO/Flow, Runway, Kling 3.0, Pika, Claude and more.

  • Strong presentation ability (IRL and virtual). You can convey a cohesive narrative to sell ideas.

  • A proven track record of leading and mentoring multidisciplinary creative teams.

  • Experienced in production and post-production for various creative outputs and deliverables (design systems, content production, 3D pipelines and more).

  • Strong expertise in design tools (Figma, Adobe Suite) and an understanding of motion, 3D, and emerging technologies.

  • 3D expertise (Cinema 4D) is a plus.
