Job summary

CVS Health is seeking an in-house counsel to support the PBM client contracting team. You will negotiate NDAs, draft and negotiate PBM contracts, and advise on regulatory issues affecting the PBM industry. Collaboration across Legal, government affairs, regulatory, audit, and underwriting is essential.

The role includes potential client relationships, support for proposals, and travel up to 5% as needed. A JD and active state bar admission are required, with a Bachelor’s degree as a baseline

Position Summary:

CVS Health has an exciting opportunity for an in-house counsel position on the company's PBM client contracting team. In this role, you will support the team's work on negotiating non-disclosure agreements with clients, consultants, client service providers, health plans, and other counterparties. You will serve as a resource to the other attorneys on the client contracting team, and to business colleagues, providing guidance and research on developing legal and regulatory issues impacting the PBM industry. The position will also support the team's efforts in negotiating pharmacy benefit services contracts with employer plan sponsor clients and TPAs, and may involve direct responsibility for client relationships, including support of the proposals team in responding to new business opportunities, and drafting and negotiating PBM contracts.

The position requires collaboration with colleagues throughout the Legal department, as well as with numerous departments throughout the company, including the government affairs, regulatory affairs, client audit and underwriting departments.

Required Qualifications:

• Actively practicing attorney with 3+ years demonstrated experience in a law firm and/or in-house setting: experience with healthcare or other regulatory matters, experience drafting and negotiating contracts and/or interacting with government regulators or agencies with respect to healthcare matters.
• Admitted to practice law in at least one state and in good standing.
• Ability to travel up to 5% (including by plane)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong legal writing and research skills, including proficiency using Westlaw.

• Experience providing advice or counsel to sophisticated clients on business matters.

• Experience in litigation or dispute resolution

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Juris Doctor (JD) is required

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$130,295.00 - $260,590.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
