Job summary

Jobtailor in Connecticut is seeking a Building Automation Systems Engineer to design, program, and configure building automation for commercial HVAC projects. You will develop robust control algorithms and create clear design documents for project teams.

The role requires experience in HVAC controls/building automation, familiarity with IP networks and industry protocols, and the ability to translate complex technical information for both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or construction discipline.
  • High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of HVAC, Controls, or Building Automation experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
  • Experience in HVAC controls, Building Automation, or related industry.
  • Basic knowledge of building automation software and related engineering tools (Automated Logic preferred).
  • Familiar with IP networks and Microsoft Visio.
  • Understanding of third‑party protocols used in building automation (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2).
  • Ability to translate technical information for both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of HVAC, Controls, or Building Automation experience; OR a Trade/Technical School Certificate in HVAC, Controls or Building Automation; OR an Associate Degree in Engineering
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or construction discipline.
  • Experience in HVAC controls, Building Automation, or related industry.
  • Basic knowledge of primary functions of building automation system software and associated engineering tools, Automated Logic suites preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Automated Logic software, peripherals, add‑ons, services, or hardware design.
  • Understanding and/or experience with IP networks.
  • Understanding and/or experience with Microsoft Visio and/or similar software.
  • Ability to understand written sequences of operations, diagrammatic depictions of systems.
  • Familiar with third‑party communication protocols used in building automation, such as BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2, etc.
  • Able to translate technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment over 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs.
