Job summary

Michels Power, Inc. seeks an Associate Construction Project Manager – Data Center Substation to support field-based substation construction projects nationwide. You will assist with planning, organizing, and implementing project management principles under direct supervision.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to travel for long-term onsite assignments, working with field crews, engineers, and vendors to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 0-3 years of related experience in substation, electrical, or data center projects preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel nationwide.
  • Proficient with MS Office; familiarity with job cost/estimating software a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Assist Project Manager(s) in managing projects under direct supervision
  • Support development and tracking of project performance metrics, budgets, and cost controls
  • Assist with cost tracking, labor tracking, scheduling, and reporting
  • Coordinate with field crews, subcontractors, engineers, vendors, and utility/data center stakeholders
  • Support material procurement, submittals, and equipment tracking
  • Assist in subcontractor management and contract complianceMaintain project documentation including cost reporting, budgeting, billing, and scheduling records
  • Assist with federal/state agency correspondence and reporting
  • Maintain project schedules under supervision
  • Participate in construction meetings to support project coordination
  • Assist in proposal preparation, estimating, and quantity take-offs
  • Provide onsite administrative and project support during long-term assignments
  • Assist with change management, productivity tracking, and project closeout
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Position Objective

The Associate Construction Project Manager – Data Center Substation, under direct supervision, serves as project support by planning, organizing, and implementing project management principles. This role develops an understanding of business operations, project execution, and stakeholder coordination while supporting field-based substation construction projects.

Success in this role requires strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and the capability to meet deadlines while anticipating and supporting internal customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 0-3 years of related experience (substation, electrical, or data center projects preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel nationwide and commit to long-term onsite assignments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (experience with job cost or estimating software is a plus)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
