Job summary

The Associate Community Banker at First Interstate Bank delivers personalized client service by holding financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine their needs and provide appropriate solutions. This Float position supports Spokane branches and emphasizes service commitments and compliance with bank policies.

You will maintain client relationships, process transactions accurately, and stay current on regulatory changes while contributing to community outreach and education

Responsibilities

  • Delivers personalized client service in person and over the phone by answering questions and offering solutions.
  • Opens and maintains checking/savings accounts and IRAs, CDs, cards, and more.
  • Performs teller duties: deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, loan payments.
  • Engages in conversations about consumer loan requests when appropriate.
  • Documents referrals to Home Loans, Treasury Solutions, Merchant Services, and more.

This is a Float position based at our Spokane, WA Northside branch and will support other Spokane, WA branches.

Summary

The Associate Community Banker delivers personalized client service by holding financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine their needs and provide appropriate solutions. This position is responsible maintaining client relationships, with emphasis on First Interstate Bank's Service Commitments and in accordance with our vision and values.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Delivers personalized client service in person and over the phone by answering questions, assisting with issues, and offering solutions.
  • Opens and maintains a variety of products, including consumer and basic business checking and savings accounts, Individual Retirement Accounts, Certificates of Deposit, consumer credit cards, and more.
  • Performs Teller duties, conducting a variety of financial transactions such as check cashing, deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and accurately counting currency and coin.
  • May engage in conversations about and process new consumer loan requests.
  • Holds financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine needs and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Identifies referral opportunities to other lines of business—including, but not limited to, Home Loans, Treasury Solutions, Merchant Services, Business Banking, and Wealth Management—consistently utilizing 360 View to document referrals and other client activity.
  • Builds client relationships through proactive outreach and follow‑up.
  • Completes work accurately with minimal errors.
  • Participates in volunteer activities and financial education efforts.
  • Stays current on regulatory changes and demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations, policies, and procedures related to assigned job functions; knowledge may be gained through coursework and on‑the‑job training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education And/Or Experience
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
  • Banking or related experience required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Registered Mortgage Loan Originator per the SAFE Act preferred

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive total compensation package including base salary and benefits. The anticipated pay range for this position is $21.45 to $32.19 per hour in WA and depends on a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills and experience, education, and geographic location. Benefits include, but are not limited to, medical, dental, vision, short- term and long-term disability benefits and life insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings account, employee assistance program, 401(k), Paid Time Off (new hires accrue at .069 per hours worked which equates to approximately 18 days per year inclusive of paid sick time) and up to 11 paid Federal holidays.
