About the Role

The Associate, Communications and Marketing position focuses on developing and executing communications initiatives, managing digital content, coordinating professional events, and supporting project delivery across multiple concurrent workstreams. Responsibilities include creating social media content, maintaining website information, preparing newsletters, tracking audience engagement, and coordinating communications materials that support organizational initiatives and stakeholder outreach.

This role combines hands‑on communications execution with event planning and project management. The position works closely with internal project leads, external stakeholders, event planners, and vendors to develop engaging content, organize conferences and meetings, and deliver coordinated initiatives from initial planning through completion. The work involves social media analytics, digital publishing, event technology, presentations, budget tracking, and cross‑functional coordination, including projects related to energy resilience and national security.

What You'll Do
Communications and Digital Presence
  • Develop, edit, and publish social media content across LinkedIn, X, and YouTube to highlight events, speaking engagements, organizational initiatives, and team activities.
  • Produce supporting communication assets, including written copy, graphics, and short‑form videos for digital channels.
  • Identify and gather thought leadership content from internal and external stakeholders, including articles, testimonials, white papers, and webinars.
  • Manage website content throughout the publishing process, including uploading new materials, maintaining accurate page information, and organizing archives of previously published content.
  • Draft newsletters that consolidate activities, developments, and updates from multiple teams into clear communications for professional audiences.
  • Monitor social media performance, collect engagement metrics, conduct regular LinkedIn profile audits, and use analytics to improve communications and outreach strategies.
  • Maintain consistent digital publishing activities and support ongoing improvements in audience engagement.
Event Planning and Coordination
  • Coordinate with project leads to establish event objectives, target audiences, and strategic priorities for conferences, meetings, and professional gatherings.
  • Translate project goals into event agendas and formats, recommending appropriate delivery methods and event scale based on audience needs, available resources, and intended outcomes.
  • Establish event impact goals and monitor metrics related to event quality, execution consistency, and attendee experience.
  • Plan, design, coordinate, and order event materials, identifying collateral requirements and managing production schedules.
  • Manage event technology and digital tools, including event websites, registration and RSVP systems, surveys, and related platforms.
  • Work with external event planners, venues, and vendors to coordinate logistics, document action items, and follow through on outstanding deliverables.
  • Support attendee coordination and event logistics to help deliver organized, professional experiences for participants and external stakeholders.
  • Provide on‑site support during events when required, working with internal teams and external partners to coordinate execution.
Project Management and Planning
  • Develop presentations, one‑pagers, slide decks, and other professional materials that support project deliverables and communications activities.
  • Create project work plans outlining milestones, responsibilities, meeting agendas, and execution requirements.
  • Manage assigned workstreams from initiation through completion, tracking dependencies, resolving issues, and coordinating deliverables across internal teams and external partners.
  • Monitor multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining alignment among contributors and adapting plans as priorities evolve.
  • Identify potential project and event risks, anticipate scheduling or execution challenges, and develop contingency plans to maintain progress.
  • Prepare and monitor individual event budgets, tracking vendor expenses, operational costs, and financial commitments.
  • Coordinate vendor requests for proposals (RFPs), review contract proposals, and manage routine event‑related expenditures with support from business operations personnel.
  • Maintain organized project documentation and communicate action items, timelines, and responsibilities to relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 1–3 years of professional experience in communications, event coordination, public affairs, marketing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts and websites, including content drafting, publication scheduling, performance monitoring, and digital content maintenance.
  • Experience organizing professional events, including vendor and venue coordination, attendee management, logistical planning, and event technology platforms.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous workstreams, shifting deadlines, and competing priorities while independently identifying obstacles and recommending solutions.

Required Skills

  • Strong professional writing and editing skills, including the ability to communicate complex subject matter clearly and effectively to professional audiences.
  • Ability to create, organize, and publish digital communications content across social media platforms and websites.
  • Practical skills in tracking social media engagement, evaluating performance metrics, and applying analytics to communications and outreach activities.
  • Knowledge of professional event coordination processes, including event registration systems, vendor communication, meeting logistics, and attendee support.
  • Ability to develop project schedules, coordinate responsibilities, monitor progress, and manage tasks through completion.
  • Proficiency with event registration software, digital meeting platforms, customer relationship management (CRM) software, and polling and survey tools.
  • Familiarity with Canva, AI tools, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accuracy across communications materials, event logistics, and project documentation.
