Job summary

Northeast Bank in Boston, MA seeks a Real Estate Valuation professional to provide valuation expertise and market intelligence for portfolio review and new opportunities. The role sits in the National Lending group and involves collaboration across underwriting and advisory functions.

The successful candidate will perform comprehensive CRE valuations, analyze market trends, and produce memos to support credit decisions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in commercial real estate lending, real estate valuation and/or underwriting.
• Bachelor’s degree with a strong track record of performance and leadership.
• Formal bank credit training or continuing education in credit/real estate topics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive valuations on commercial real estate collateral, from desktop to in-depth analyses.
• Analyze property types, market trends, leasing activity, and investor demand to assess value and risk.
• Partner with the National Lending team to underwrite collateral for new loan opportunities and support due diligence.
• Collaborate with lenders, relationship managers, and asset managers as a subject matter expert on value and risk.
• Conduct site inspections for new opportunities and ongoing asset management.
• Produce data-driven valuation memos and market studies to support credit decisions.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a national commercial real estate lender with deep industry knowledge, the Bank purchases and originates traditional and transitional loans and other facilities for borrowers and non-bank lenders. Northeast Bank has earned a reputation as a smart and nimble lender in the commercial real estate space, powered by an experienced underwriting team with a successful track record. The successful candidate would be part of the Real Estate Group and will play an active role on the origination and underwriting team, contributing where needed but primarily providing valuation expertise and market intelligence for portfolio review and new opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collateral Valuation: Perform comprehensive valuations on commercial real estate collateral, ranging from high level desktop reviews to in-depth analysis.
• Market Intelligence:Analyze property types, local market trends, leasing activity, and investor demand to determine value and identify risks.
• Collaborative Underwriting:Partner with other members of the National Lending team to underwrite collateral for new loan opportunities, participate in due diligence calls, and provide market, portfolio and individual collateral level insights to senior management.
• Cross-Functional Advisory:Work closely with lenders, relationship managers, and asset managers as a subject matter expert regarding the value and risk profile of assigned real estate assets.
• Due Diligence:Conduct physical site inspections for new opportunities and ongoing asset management.
• Reporting: Produce clear, data-driven valuation memos and broader market studies to support credit committee decisions.
• General: Successfully pass technical and regulatory examinations required by the Company.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Experience: 2 plus years of experience in commercial real estate lending, real estate valuation and/or underwriting.
• Education:Bachelor’s degree with a strong track record of performance and leadership. Formal bank credit training or continuing education in credit and/or real estate topics a plus.
• Technical Skills:Intermediate to advanced Excel skills with knowledge of real estate financial modeling.
• Communication:Exceptional interpersonal and written skills; ability to distill complex market data into concise investment memos.
• Mindset:A “can-do” attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, feedback-heavy environment.

• Ability to work in an office environment and in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
