University Health Associates in Morgantown, WV, is seeking an Associate Clinical Therapist to assess and treat individuals with mental illness or substance use disorders. You will perform psychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans, and work within a multidisciplinary team to support patients of all ages.

The role involves crisis intervention, education for patients and families, and ongoing professional development. This is a 40-hour, on-site position within UHA Neuro Behavioral Medicine.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field is required.
  • WV: Temporary Social Worker License or Licensed Graduate Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor Temporary Permit or LPC Associate.
  • OH: Licensed Social Worker.
  • MD: Licensed Master Social Worker or Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor.
  • PA: Licensed Social Worker.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychosocial assessments of patients and families.
  • Develop psychosocial treatment plans with clinical social work interventions.
  • Screen, diagnose, and assist in treatment of mental health/substance use issues.
  • Support victims of abuse, neglect, domestic violence, or assault.
  • Maintain knowledge of medical, legal, and ethical issues affecting patient care.
  • Educate patients and families about adaptation to diagnoses and treatment.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary health care teams.
  • Liaise with community resources for patient care.
  • Document assessments and interventions per guidelines.
  • Attend departmental and administrative meetings.
  • Keep current with social work and health care developments.

Interventions may include crisis intervention, brief and long-term individual, marital, family and/or group therapies as well as grief and bereavement work.3. Screen, identify, diagnose, and assist in treatment of mental health and/or substance abuse problems in patients and family members.4. Assist with screening, identification, diagnosis, management and treatment of victims of abuse, neglect, domestic violence, rape, etc.5. Maintain a working knowledge of relevant medical/legal issues that affect patient care, e.g., advance directives, child and elder abuse6. Provide education to patients and families around issues related to adaptation to the patient's diagnosis, illness, treatment and/or life situation.7. Participate in multi-disciplinary health care teams.8. Maintain working knowledge of and liaison with community agencies and resources.9. Knowledge of hospital, medical center and/or health system resources to access and provide for patient care needs.10. Document assessment, plan, interactions, and interventions according to departmental, hospital and/or health system guidelines and standards.11. Attend and participate in staff, committee, department, and other administrative meetings.12.
