Job Description Summary: 30% Administrative / 70% Teaching, Scholarship, Service - Under thesupervision of the Program Director, the PA Principal Facultymember is responsible for teaching, service, scholarship, andadministrative elements within the Physician AssistantProgram.
Duties and Responsibilities
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide classroom instruction preparing and presentingrelevant, current course content as instructor of record and guestlectures in other courses as needed.
- Developing, reviewing and revising as necessary the missionstatement, goals and competencies of the program.
- Participate in student recruitment, admission, and selectionprocess.
- Evaluating student performance.
- Participate in curriculum committee, provide input to facultyin designing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating thecurriculum.
- Performing student advisement and academic counseling.
- Participate with student remediation activities asrequired.
- Support with data collection, analysis, and determination ofactions for evaluation in the Program.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Faculty need to be available on site for students and events asnecessary.
- Post and maintain office hours of 4 hours a week with anaverage of 3 days each week on campus.
- Compose, edit and continually review information for the PAStudent Handbook.
- Review educational literature and learning media to keepabreast of new teaching/learning strategies.
- Help develop, implement and modify as necessary academiccalendars for didactic students.
- Help participate orientation program of incoming class.
- Help coordinate, prepare, and administer preclinical summativeexamination, final summative examination, and OSCEexaminations.
- Effective budget management.
- Help to monitor program academic integrity.
- Maintain collaborative external relationships to facilitatevaluable clinical experiences and community relationships. Providesat least one introduction to DCE for a new preceptor or siteannually.
- Help with student job placement and alumni relations.
- Participates in various community and civic activities.
- Participate in scholarly activity .
The responsibilities are intended to be examples of duties and arenot intended to be all-inclusive. There may be other duties asassigned. Assignments may be adjusted at the discretion of theProgram Director and the Dean.
Minimum Qualfications i rements
- Nationally certified, state licensed physician assistant.
- Minimum of a Master's degree.
- 2 years clinical experience or in teaching in an academicsetting.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to utilize statistical software and applyanalytics.
- Strong critical thinking, organization, and problem solvingskills.
- Proficient written and verbal language skills.
- Competent in working with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, andPowerPoint).
- 2 years experience in teaching in an academic setting.
- Actively practices medicine.
- Expertise in teaching physical diagnosis, varieties of clinicalmedicine topics, pharmacotherapeutics and/or running labgroups.
- Doctoral degree in health care related field
Work Environment
Office Location: Oakland Campus – Onsite
- This is an onsite position based in Oakland, CA, requiringregular in-office presence to support daily operations,collaboration, and student or team engagement.
- Work is performed primarily on campus in a dynamic academicenvironment, with direct interaction across multidisciplinaryteams.
Mental/Physical Requirements
This position will be performed in an office setting. The positionwill require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicatein person, video and by telephone, frequently operate standardoffice equipment, such as telephones and computers.

Up to $140,000 [annually/exempt], depending on experience,qualifications, geographic location, and other relevantfactors.
