Job summary

Pennoni in Princeton, NJ is seeking an Associate Engineer to join our multi-discipline design team on a full-time basis. You will contribute to private and public site development projects across markets, performing site design, grading, utilities, and street design.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering (Civil preferred), 2+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D. EIT in NJ preferred; we offer competitive benefits and opportunities for growth.

  • Knowledge of stormwater design calculations and software; AutoCAD Civil 3D experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform site design including layout, grading, utilities, and street design.
  • Evaluate land development feasibility.
  • Assist with SWM, ESC, BMPs, and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare permit applications and engineering reports.
  • Collaborate with the design team and stakeholders.

Job description

We are hiring for an experienced professional to join our team as a Associate Engineerand and contribute to our multi-discipline design projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Princeton, NJ. This person will have the opportunity to work on a variety of private and public site development projects across various markets!

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform site design work; this includes site layout, grading, utilities-oriented tasks (e.g.: water & sanitary sewer systems), and public street design.
  • Perform site evaluations for land development feasibility.
  • Assist with stormwater management [SWM]: design stormwater piping systems, assist with Erosion & Sediment Control [ESC], review retention / detention, and implement Best Management Practices [BMP's], when necessary.
  • Review of local municipal ordinances as well as county & state regulations.
  • Assist the design team in preparation of plans for permitting and construction.
  • Assist with the preparation of permit applications.
  • Assist with the preparation of engineering reports; this involves presenting technical information to demonstrate compliance with client requirements and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering-oriented discipline (preferably Civil Engineering).
  • 2+ years of professional experience working in Engineering, preferably with land development projects.
  • Knowledge to stormwater management design calculations and software
    Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D

Please note that we are willing to consider a higher-level position for a candidate that qualifies with additional experience accordingly.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • E.I.T in NJ is preferred.
  • Experience working on land development and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, project management software, etc.); exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bluebeam is a plus!
  • Experience with stormwater management (SWM) design calculations, especially while utilizing H&H modeling tools.
  • Proficiency on standard office software applications: Microsoft Office 365 (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, etc.
  • Proven ability to look at the “Big Picture” as well the project goals in order to coordinate various design disciplines accordingly.
  • Proven track record of demonstrating punctuality with consistent attendance.
  • Proven ability to work in an energetic & challenging team environment as a collaborativeTeam Player, especially while maintaining the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills, especially when working on a variety of projects while providing solutions to difficult issues.

TARGET SALARY RANGE: $75K - $90k (per year)
