Job summary

Eurofins Environment Testing in Lancaster is seeking an Associate Chemist to prepare environmental samples and perform PFAS prep using LC/MS and related methods. You will work in a team oriented lab, adhering to SOPs and QA standards.

The role includes shift work (2nd shift, Tue-Sat 3pm-11:30pm) with training on M-F mornings and a competitive hourly pay with a 10% shift differential.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in chemistry or related field, or 2 years lab experience in lieu of degree.
• Professional working proficiency in English is required.
• US work authorization without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine lab tasks and familiarize with methods and programs.
• Prepare samples and perform chemical analyses using standard techniques.
• Record, report data and communicate unusual test occurrences to supervisor.
• Maintain routine instrument maintenance and QC samples.
• Operate under supervision using approved SOPs and QA standards.

Job Description

Position Summary:

The Associate Chemist prepares and analyzes environmental samples using standard analytical techniques according to approved scientific methodology in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures (SOPs). This position can be a physical job that may require standing for long periods, working with organic solvents, laboratory glassware and specialized equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs routine lab tasks that provide experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs. These include:
  • Preparation of samples using standard techniques
  • Performing chemical analysis using standard techniques
  • Evaluation and quantification of data
  • Recording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor
  • Performing routine instrument maintenance
• Competency in complex instrumentation instrument specific software (training is provided)
• Responsible for keeping personal training documentation (training records, IDOC/DOC) current and accurate
• Responsible for timely completion of assigned/scheduled QC samples (MDL, LOD/LOQ, PT)
• As required, documents NCMs for projects with quality issues
• Understands and utilizes backlog reports to manage personal workloadWorks under close supervision using routine and standard methods
• Regular attendance and punctuality
• Proficientwith IDOCs, for assigned methods carried out in the department
• Responsible for performing job functions in compliance with Eurofins Environment health and safety and quality assurance standards
• Demonstrates and promotes the company vision
• Inventories and stocks laboratory supplies
• Washes and inventories glassware
• Purges analyzed samples
• Assists in other areas of laboratory when needed
• Additional duties as assigned

Follow and learn appropriate protocols in one or more of the following disciplines. This role will focus on PFAS prep.

• Organic preparation
• Metals preparation and analysis

• Mass Spectrometry
• High Resolution preparation and analysis
• Low Resolution preparation and analysis

This position is 2nd shift, Tues-Sat, 3pm -1130pm. Training will be M-F 7am-3:30pm.

Qualifications

Basic Minimum Qualifications

• BS or BA inChemistry orrelated field, Associate Degree, or 2years of related laboratory experience in lieu of degree.
• Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.
• Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship

Ideal Candidates will have:

• Previous experience with PFAS and/or LC/MS and/or sample preparation
• Previous experience in a lab or production setting
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
• Able to interpret written materials and communicate findings effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and propose practical solutions.
• Applies critical thinking to evaluate options and make decisions.
• Effective collaboration skillsto contribute to team goals and supportdepartment productivity goals
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
• Effectively balances multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.
• Comfortable using mathematical formulas and tools to perform calculations and analyze data.

• Able to work independently, following written or verbal instructions with minimal oversight.
• Strong interpersonal skills; able to coordinate tasks and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Additional Information

Pay rate: $18-19/hour + 10% shift differential
