Job summary

WellSpan Health seeks a Chaplain to provide spiritual care to patients, families, and staff, arranging services as needed. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to address identified spiritual needs and support faith communities across the region.

The role requires 3 years of pastoral experience, a High School Diploma or GED, and advanced education (Bachelor's or Masters preferred; CPE unit required).

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Bachelor's degree or currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program preferred.
  • Master's degree is preferred for APC Certification.
  • 3 years of Pastoral experience required.
  • 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) upon hire required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct spiritual care to patients, families, caregivers, staff.
  • Participates in spiritual assessment and development of care plans with interdisciplinary team.
  • Liais es with community chaplains and faith community leaders as indicated.
  • Documents all patient/family/caregiver contacts and provides information as indicated.
  • Participates in patient care conferences and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Provides consultation, education and support to the interdisciplinary team on spiritual care.
  • Provides funeral or memorial services or other services as requested by patient/families.
  • Provides bereavement support.
  • Works across region for department when needed for coverage.

Essential Functions
  • Provides direct spiritual care to patients/families/caregivers/staff, when needed and assessed.
  • Participates in a spiritual assessment of the patient/family/caregivers, as indicated.
  • Facilitates the development of a plan of care to meet the identified spiritual needs in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Serves as liaison to community chaplains and faith community leaders, as indicated.
  • Documents all patient/family/caregiver contacts and provides additional written, pertinent information as indicated.

Common Expectations
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
Travel Requirements
  • Estimated Amount: - May make home visits.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Bachelors Degree or currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Program Preferred

Work Experience
