Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Contract Associate Buyer to support procurement needs, manage contracts, and handle data integrity. The role covers light negotiations, PO issuance, invoice resolution, order management, and analytics.

You will coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure on-time delivery, accuracy, and compliance, while safeguarding IP and export rules.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and 0–2 years in Procurement.
  • Experience using Google Workspace for collaboration and analytics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Create error-free purchase orders up to authorized limits for materials, subassemblies, and services.
  • Review and negotiate standard contract terms, coordinate with legal to finalize contracts and statements of work.
  • Identify best-value suppliers by issuing RFQs and analyzing responses.
  • Set up terms and onboarding data for new suppliers in CFS systems.
  • Review and manage open orders to ensure on-time, on-quality delivery.
  • Resolve invoice issues and ensure timely payments to vendors.
  • Adhere to procurement policies, including export compliance and IP controls.
  • Provide constant, clear updates to internal customers.

Join the power movement as a Contract Associate Buyer

As a member of the Supply Chain Team, you will supports the business for procurement needs with contract data management, reporting, and integrity - including light negotiations, PO issuance, invoice resolution, order management and data analytics.

What you'll do:
  • Create error-free purchase orders up to authorized limits for raw materials, parts, subassemblies, finished goods, equipment, tooling, supplies, and/or services from suppliers in support of internal customer requirements
  • Review and negotiate standard contract terms, coordinate with legal counsel where necessary to finalize contracts and statements of work
  • Identify the best value supplier (cost, schedule, quality) by issuing requests for quote and analyzing responses from suppliers
  • Set up terms and accounts with new suppliers and complete data entry necessary to onboard the supplier into CFS systems
  • Review and manage open orders with suppliers to ensure product arrives on-time and on-quality
  • Resolve invoice issues and ensure that vendors are paid on time
  • Adhere to all supply chain policies, procedures, guidelines and instructions including those regarding the procurement of materials, intellectual property, and export compliance
  • Provide constant, clear, and timely updates to internal customers

Must-have requirements:
  • Extended periods of computer work either standing or sitting
  • Extended periods of phone or teleconference work
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, and cryogenics
  • $30 - $40 an hour
  • This is a contract position.
