About the Role:
As a Professional Liability Associate Attorney, you will manage a diverse caseload involving claims against professionals, from initial investigation through resolution. You will be responsible for developing case strategies, drafting and arguing motions, and driving matters toward efficient, favorable outcomes. Working in a hybrid environment, you'll collaborate closely with partners and clients, contributing directly to the firm's litigation successes and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a professional liability litigation caseload from intake through resolution, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
• Conduct in-depth legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive filings tailored to complex professional liability issues.
• Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions, attend depositions, and provide strategic support throughout the discovery process.
• Engage in negotiation and settlement advocacy, including drafting settlement proposals and participating in mediations and settlement conferences.
• Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and motions, presenting persuasive oral arguments and advocating for client positions.
• Coordinate and oversee case management activities, including deadlines, calendars, and document organization, to ensure timely and efficient progression of matters.
• Counsel clients on risk, exposure, and litigation strategy, providing clear, practical guidance and updates at each stage of the case.
• Collaborate with partners, associates, and staff in a hybrid work environment, leveraging technology to maintain seamless communication and workflow.

Key Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience in professional liability litigation or related complex civil litigation.
• Strong legal research and writing skills with a track record of drafting high‑quality pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Proven ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities with minimal supervision.
• Experience preparing for and supporting depositions, including strategy development and witness preparation.
• Competence in negotiation and settlement advocacy, including working with mediators, opposing counsel, and clients to achieve practical resolutions.
• Confident courtroom presence with experience arguing motions or conducting hearings.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, maintaining responsiveness, collaboration, and accountability.
• Excellent client counseling skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts and litigation risks in clear, practical terms.
• Prior experience specifically defending professionals such as attorneys, accountants, healthcare providers, or other licensed professionals.
• Familiarity with insurance defense, coverage issues, or working with professional liability carriers.
• Experience using litigation support tools, e‑discovery platforms, and case management software.
• Background in managing cases across multiple jurisdictions or in federal court.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in the relevant state, in good standing.
• 2-5 years of post-bar litigation experience, preferably with a focus on professional liability or complex civil litigation.
• Membership in federal court bars and/or additional state bars preferred.
