Job summary

Harris Beach Murtha seeks a mid-level associate to join its Coverage Practice Group in a hybrid Boston or NYC role. The Associate will represent insurers and clients in insurance coverage and related litigation, review policies and pleadings, and assist with dispute resolution.

Strong research and writing skills are essential. The ideal candidate has 2–5+ years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance coverage matters, with a JD from an ABA-accredited law school and MA Bar admission

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance coverage matters.
• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Massachusetts Bar admission preferred.
• Experience with insurance coverage issues and related litigation.
• Strong research and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent insurers and clients in insurance coverage and related litigation matters.
• Review and analyze insurance policies, pleadings, claim files, and related materials to assess coverage issues and potential exposure.
• Assist with evaluation, investigation, and resolution of insurance coverage disputes.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, coverage analyses, pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery documents.
• Participate in all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other professionals regarding case strategy and developments.
• Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas to deliver excellent client service.

Description

Harris Beach Murtha seeks a mid-level associate to join its Coverage Practice Group. The Associate will represent insurers and other clients in insurance coverage, proper claims handling practices, and related litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have experience analyzing insurance policies, evaluating coverage issues, conducting legal research, preparing written analyses and pleadings, and assisting with the resolution of coverage disputes. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with partners, clients, and other professionals while handling sophisticated coverage and litigation matters.

The Coverage Associate will have the opportunity to:

• Represent insurers and other clients in insurance coverage and related litigation matters
• Review and analyze insurance policies, pleadings, claim files, and related materials to assess coverage issues and potential exposure
• Assist with the evaluation, investigation, and resolution of insurance coverage disputes
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, coverage analyses, pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery documents
• Participate in all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, mediations, settlement discussions, and trial preparation
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other professionals regarding case strategy and developments
• Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas to deliver exceptional client service

Work Environment and Expectations

A hybrid work opportunity in Harris Beach Murtha’s Boston or NYC office Engagement in sophisticated insurance coverage and related litigation matters on behalf of insurers and other clients Minimum annual billable requirement of 1800 hours

• 2-5+ years of litigation experience, preferably involving insurance coverage matters
• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school
• Admission to the Massachusetts Bar preferred
• Admission in Connecticut, New York, New Hampshire and/or Rhode Island, or eligibility for admission into one or more of those jurisdictions, is a plus
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and objective decision-making
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client-service skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Salary information below will vary depending upon relevant experience for the position and geographic location.

$150,000 – 185,000
