Job summary

Watts & Associates seeks a mid level Corporate M&A Private Equity Associate for its New York office on a hybrid basis. You will gain access to sophisticated private equity and M&A matters for major clients, with meaningful responsibility from day one.

You will work with partners across offices, manage due diligence, draft core documents, and build long-term client relationships while benefitting from mentorship and a flexible hybrid environment.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in corporate transactions at a sophisticated law firm.
  • Meaningful experience working on private equity transactions or sponsor-side M&A.
  • Admission to the New York bar or eligible to waive in promptly.
  • Solid academic credentials from a recognized law school.
  • Ability to work in the New York office on a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions across the full deal lifecycle.
  • Draft, review and negotiate core transaction documents and ancillary agreements for complex corporate deals.
  • Manage due diligence workstreams and coordinate inputs from subject matter specialists and cross office teams.
  • Interface directly with clients on commercial issues, timelines and execution steps under partner supervision.
  • Collaborate closely with partners to take increasing ownership of matters and develop long term client relationships.

Watts & Associates is working discreetly with a well established Am Law ranked full service firm with recognized corporate strength seeking a mid level Corporate M&A Private Equity Associate to join its New York office on a hybrid basis.

This practice offers direct access to sophisticated private equity and M&A transactions for major corporate and financial sponsor clients, with meaningful responsibility from day one. You will work closely with commercially focused partners across offices, gain early client exposure, and build a credible platform for long term advancement within a nationally recognized corporate team.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The firm is seeking a mid level Corporate M&A Private Equity Associate with:

  • At least 2 years of experience in corporate transactions at a sophisticated law firm
  • Meaningful experience working on private equity transactions or sponsor side M&A
  • Admission to the New York bar or eligibility to waive in promptly
  • Solid academic credentials from a recognized law school
  • Ability to work in the New York office on a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office
  • $225,000 to $420,000 base salary, depending on experience
  • Discretionary performance based bonus on top of base salary
