Brumbaugh Law Firm is a reputable law firm committed to providing comprehensive legal services in Estate Planning and Elder Law, Probate, and Asset Protection. We prioritize client satisfaction and strive to offer tailored solutions to meet their unique needs. We are seeking a seasoned Long Term Care Planning Attorney licensed in the State of Ohio to join us. This leadership role involves overseeing the Long-Term Care team, meeting directly with clients, reviewing legal documents, and crafting innovative strategies to meet each client’s unique goals. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in elder law, Medicaid planning, and asset protection, along with a passion for client advocacy and team development.

Responsibilities
  • Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current
  • Prepare wills, trusts, and power of attorney documents
  • Communicate with clients about plans for dispersing their assets
  • Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation, and forming a strategy for a plan of action
  • Department Leadership — Provide strategic direction and oversight to the Long-Term Care Planning team, including planners, care coordinators, paralegals, and legal assistants.
  • Client Engagement — Conduct initial consultations and ongoing meetings with clients and their families to assess needs and goals. Develop and implement comprehensive Care Plans, including Medicaid qualification strategies, asset protection, and care coordination. Serve as a trusted advisor, resolving client concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Legal Oversight — Review and approve all legal documents related to long-term care planning, including Powers of Attorney, Wills, Trusts, and Irrevocable Trusts. Supervise the preparation and submission of benefit entitlement applications (e.g., Medical Assistance), and manage appeals as necessary.
  • Team Collaboration — Lead and mentor staff, ensuring accuracy and excellence in all client files. Collaborate with Care Coordinators, paralegals, and other professionals to deliver holistic solutions.
  • Process Improvement — Recommend and implement process enhancements to improve operational efficiency and client experience. Monitor departmental performance and identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
Qualifications
  • Great communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations
  • Active ABA member in good standing
  • At least 1-2 years of working in a law firm on estate planning and probate law issues
  • Undergraduate degree in a legal background and Juris Doctor degree required
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice in the State of Ohio
  • Experience practicing estate planning and/or elder law
  • Strong understanding of Ohio estate planning and elder laws
  • Excellent drafting and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality legal services and achieving favorable outcomes for clients
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and software
  • Ability to close high-value sales
Compensation
