Blitt and Gaines, P.C. is a leading debt collection law firm seeking an Associate Attorney to gain extensive courtroom experience by appearing regularly on behalf of the firm.

The role involves reviewing new claims, managing a personal work list, and supporting all aspects of the litigation process while learning firm and client policies. Qualified candidates will have a Juris Doctorate and Arkansas bar admission, with additional state licenses a plus.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required and Arkansas bar admission required.
• Additional state bar admissions are valuable for firm operations.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Appear in court on behalf of the firm when and where needed.
• Review new claims for compliance with firm and client standards.
• Review and approve pleadings filed with the courts, including complaints and motions.
• Draft motions and responses for contested matters as needed.
• Argue contested motions and conduct trials and arbitrations.
• Manage telephonic and written communications with opposing counsel.
• Prepare and respond to discovery or oversee counterclaims involving the firm or its clients.

Job Summary:

The Associate Attorney position will gain extensive courtroom experience through regular appearances on behalf of the firm. This role is responsible for reviewing new claims and pleadings, managing a personal work list, and supporting all aspects of the litigation process. Associates will develop comprehensive knowledge of court procedures, internal controls, and firm and client policies. This position has no billable hour requirements.

Essential Duties:

• Appear in court on behalf of the firm when and where needed.
• Review new claims for compliance with firm and client standards.
• Review and approve pleadings filed with the courts, including complaints and motions.
• Draft motions and responses for contested matters as needed.
• Argue contested motions and conduct trials and arbitrations.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• Juris Doctorate and admission to the Arkansas bar is required.
• Additional licenses in states where the firm operates are valuable: Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, or Wisconsin

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Experience with Collection Master or equivalent case management systems preferred but not required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of staff, judges, opposing counsel, and court clerks.
• Demonstrated tact, discretion, and courtesy in professional interactions.
• Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, manage timelines, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records with strong attention to detail.
