Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP in Dallas seeks a Catastrophic Torts Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of civil litigation experience to join our growing team. This role offers significant responsibility, meaningful client contact, courtroom experience, and collaboration with experienced trial attorneys on complex matters including catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, transportation, and premises liability.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Texas.
• 3-5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably involving catastrophic injury, transportation, premises liability, construction defect, product liability, general liability, or insurance defense matters.
• Experience handling discovery, motion practice, depositions, and client reporting.
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and responsive.
• Professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
• Experience with iManage and/or OneDrive is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support a caseload involving catastrophic injury, wrongful death, transportation, premises liability, construction, product liability, and other complex tort matters.
• Develop litigation strategy and evaluate liability, damages, and exposure.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, mediation statements, and other litigation-related documents.
• Prepare and respond to written discovery.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, corporate representatives, and experts.
• Conduct legal research and prepare analyses regarding liability and damages issues.
• Attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and insurers.
• Prepare detailed client reports and case evaluations.
• Collaborate with partners and attorneys throughout FMG's national litigation practice.
• Assist with business development, client presentations, and thought leadership opportunities.

Our Dallas office is home to a thriving Tort & Catastrophic Loss Practice that defends businesses, insurers, transportation companies, premises owners, contractors, manufacturers, and other clients in high-exposure litigation throughout Texas and across the country.

We are seeking a Catastrophic Torts Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of litigation experience to join our growing team. This position offers significant responsibility, meaningful client contact, courtroom experience, and the opportunity to work closely with experienced trial attorneys on complex matters involving catastrophic injuries, wrongful death claims, transportation accidents, premises liability, construction litigation, and other high-stakes tort disputes.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical abilities, exceptional writing skills, sound judgment, and a desire to develop into a first-chair trial lawyer. This attorney will work directly with the Dallas partners while also collaborating with attorneys across FMG's national platform.

This associate will maintain positive client relationships, observe strict confidentiality regarding client matters, and thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Actual base pay will depend upon experience, qualifications, internal equity, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
