Role Description

The Associate Attorney will work on-site in Buffalo, NY in a full-time capacity, supporting clients in workers’ compensation and related legal matters. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda; conducting legal research on workers’ compensation and labor and employment law issues; and analyzing medical records and claim files. The role involves appearing at hearings and depositions, negotiating settlements, and providing clear legal advice to clients. The Associate Attorney will collaborate with partners, other attorneys, and staff to manage case files, meet deadlines, and maintain high professional and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Law with a focus or interest in Labor and Employment Law and workers’ compensation.
• Ability to provide clear, practical Legal Advice to insurance carriers and self-insured employers.
• Proficiency in legal Research, including statutes, regulations, case law, and administrative guidance.
• Effective Negotiation skills for handling settlements, hearings, and client communications.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission (or eligibility for admission) to the New York State Bar.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize tasks, and work collaboratively in an on-site team environment.
• Prior experience or internships in workers’ compensation, insurance defense, or labor and employment law are beneficial.
