Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an attorney to oversee statewide foreclosures in New York. You will manage high-volume matters, coordinate with clients, courts, and trustees, and ensure compliance with foreclosure timelines using the firm’s case management system.

The role requires strong oral and written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and with teams in a fast-paced environment. Travel as needed and ethical standards are essential.

Qualifications

  • Admitted to practice in New York.
  • Admitted to practice in New York federal courts is a plus.
  • Experience in real estate, mortgage and/or commercial litigation preferred.
  • Knowledge of FDCPA/RESPA/TILA a plus.
  • Willing to learn foreclosure and real estate law if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Expedite the firm’s files and act as liaison with clients, vendors, courts, and trustees.
  • Manage files by foreclosure rules and timelines; use case mgmt system for reports.
  • Review and execute pleadings and correspondence; maintain updates in systems.
  • Outline and present pleadings; argue merits at hearings, conferences or trials.
  • Attend public auctions as needed; review title searches and identify issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight and management of high-volume statewide foreclosure matters
  • Ensure all appropriate actions are taken to expedite the firm’s files
  • Act as a liaison between the firm and clients, vendors, outside counsel, courts, trustees, and other foreclosure personnel
  • Manage files by applicable foreclosure rules and firm-established timelines
  • Work within the firm’s case management system to create, manage, and review daily and weekly reports
  • Review and execute various pleadings and correspondence
  • Maintain accurate updates in client and firm management systems
  • Outline, prepare, and present pleadings and other legal documents
  • Argue the merits of assigned cases at hearings, conferences, mediations, or trials
  • Attend and/or conduct public auctions as needed
  • Review title searches to identify any title issues and to determine the proper parties to serve
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Admitted to practice in New York
  • Admitted to practice in New York’s federal district courts and/or other states a plus
  • Experience in real estate, mortgage and/or commercial litigation strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of FDCPA, RESPA, TILA, as well as any applicable state and federal debt collection and real property law a plus
  • Experience in foreclosure and real estate law a plus; if none, must be willing to learn
  • Exceptional communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
  • Proficiency in legal research, writing, and document drafting
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining client confidentiality
  • A portable book of business is a plus
