Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. (QPWB) seeks an Associate Attorney for our Birmingham, AL office focusing on general liability defense. The attorney will handle civil litigation matters across all phases from investigation through trial, with emphasis on premises liability, personal injury, and related claims.

The ideal candidate has a J.D. from an accredited law school, active Alabama State Bar membership, and at least 3 years of civil litigation or insurance defense experience.

• 3+ years of civil litigation or insurance defense experience.
• Active membership in the Alabama State Bar required.
• General liability defense experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Manage general liability and civil litigation defense matters from inception through resolution.
• Handle cases involving premises liability, personal injury, negligence, property damage, and other general liability claims.
• Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, memoranda, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and analyze applicable statutes, case law, and procedural rules.
• Manage written discovery, document review, and production.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
• Attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, case management conferences, and other court proceedings.
• Develop litigation strategies, evaluate liability and damages, and provide recommendations regarding case resolution.
• Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, exhibits, pretrial motions, and other litigation materials.
• Communicate regularly with clients, insurance carriers, experts, and opposing counsel.
• Maintain compliance with court deadlines, client reporting requirements, and internal case management procedures.
• Collaborate with partners, associates, paralegals, and legal support staff on ongoing matters.

(QPWB), a multi-office national defense firm and the largest minority owned law firm in the United States, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join our Birmingham, AL office, focusing on General Liability Defense. This is a full-time position offering competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.

About the Role

The Associate Attorney will handle a variety of general liability and civil litigation defense matters, representing clients throughout all phases of litigation, from initial investigation through resolution and trial.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of civil litigation or insurance defense experience , strong legal research and writing skills, and the ability to independently manage a caseload while collaborating with an experienced legal team.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active membership in good standing with the Alabama State Bar required
• 3+ years of civil litigation or insurance defense experience
• General liability defense experience strongly preferred
• Experience handling premises liability, personal injury, negligence, or related defense matters preferred
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Experience managing discovery, depositions, hearings, and other litigation proceedings
• Familiarity with Alabama state and federal court procedures
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to independently manage a caseload and meet deadlines
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a legal team
• Professional, responsive, and client-service oriented
