Job description

A law firm seeks a licensed Associate Attorney based in Mississippi or Alabama (remote) with occasional travel to the Rock Hill, SC area. This role supports a national practice devoted to assisting clients, such as banks, finance companies, and fleet operators, in matters involving secured interests in motor vehicles and other high-value assets. Duties
  • Oversee a substantial caseload from intake through resolution, ensuring timely handling of deadlines and client communications.
  • Review new assignments promptly, analyze legal and factual issues, and determine optimal strategies for clients holding security interests in high-value assets.
  • Negotiate impound lien disputes with repair facilities, tow yards, and governmental entities, as well as property damage claims with insurance representatives and opposing counsel.
  • When negotiations are unsuccessful, engage in alternative dispute resolution (e.g., arbitration) or initiate litigation, managing all phases of the lawsuit.
  • Communicate directly with insurance adjusters, claims supervisors, opposing attorneys, body shops, tow yards, and clients via telephone and written correspondence.
  • Execute settlements within delegated authority, secure necessary releases, and verify client satisfaction before closing matters.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records in case management software, documenting all contacts, investigative steps, negotiations, and evidentiary materials.
  • Adhere strictly to professional and ethical standards, including the Rules of Professional Conduct.
Requirements
  • Admission to both the Mississippi and Alabama Bars in good standing.
  • Residency in Mississippi or Alabama and willingness to travel to Rock Hill, SC, as needed.
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume caseloads with thorough attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, internet research, and case management systems.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills in lien disputes and property damage matters.
  • Litigation aptitude, including familiarity with drafting pleadings, taking and defending depositions, and attending hearings or arbitrations.
  • Capacity to analyze assignments rapidly, interpret a variety of legal/financial considerations, and propose effective resolutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to correspond with diverse stakeholders and present complex issues clearly.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently within a collaborative team environment.
Education
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
Certifications
  • Active membership in and ability to practice law before the Mississippi and Alabama state bars.
