Job summary

LaSalle Investment Management is seeking an Assistant Portfolio Controller for JLL Property Finance Trust (JLL PFT) to manage accounting and reporting for debt portfolios using Fair Value GAAP and IFRS. This role reports to the Portfolio Controller and leads month-end close processes.

The candidate will have a CPA (preferred), 6+ years in real estate accounting, and strong Excel and AI tool familiarity, with a proactive approach to process improvements and client service.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of real estate accounting.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred; progress toward CPA expected.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
  • Assist in SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, etc.).
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Identify and lead AI-driven process improvements in reporting.

Job description

Objective of Role

LaSalle Investment Management is currently seeking an Assistant Portfolio Controller on JLL Property Finance Trust (JLL PFT). This individual will serve in a lead role to help manage a significant portion of the accounting and reporting process for one or more of our debt portfolios utilizing Fair Value GAAP and IFRS. This individual will report to the Portfolio Controller.

Accountabilities
  • Take a lead role in monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting closes
  • Assist in preparing SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, etc.)
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Identify and lead AI-driven process improvement projects across the accounting and reporting cycle, including automating recurring tasks and building efficiencies in financial statement preparation
  • Review financials and NAV packs provided by accounting administrator
  • Coordinate quarterly and annual reporting requirements, as well as tax requirements
  • Coordinate with cash management group to execute cash transactions (investor subscriptions, investor distributions, invoice payment, quarterly fees etc)
  • Quarterly financial analysis, including review of investment accounting information
  • Calculate, analyze and report performance returns
  • Effectively manage and coach junior team members
  • Respond to client inquiries with professionalism and accuracy
  • Create efficiency in and effectiveness of the financial reporting process as well as improve client services
  • Take initiative in identifying problems and providing suggested solutions
  • Take the lead on special projects as assigned
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 6 years of accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of real estate accounting
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • CPA designation is strongly preferred - Candidate will be expected to achieve CPA in order to qualify for future progression
  • Motivated self-starter with excellent communication and inter-personal skills
  • Ability to think creatively and to take the lead in solving problems
  • Extremely organized multi-tasker with great attention to detail
  • Team player who works well independently as well as with others
  • Ability to work effectively with off-site managers and clients
  • Strong sense of accountability for quality of own work and the work of the team
  • Strong knowledge of technical accounting concepts
  • Must be willing to work extra hours, whether early or late, when necessary
  • Strongly proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, and working knowledge of AI tools (either in a work or home context) with a demonstrated interest in applying them in a professional context
  • Openness to continuous learning in a rapidly evolving technology environment; willingness to evaluate, pilot and champion new AI tools as part of the team’s ongoing process improvement agenda
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States

Estimated compensation for this position: 120,000.00 - 130,000.00 USD per year. This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
