PIMCO seeks an Associate for its Alternatives Business Management team in Newport Beach. You will support deal execution and transaction management across the private alternatives platform, coordinating with Legal, Operations, Finance, Tax, Risk, Compliance, and Trading to move transactions from pipeline to close.

This role offers exposure across the investment lifecycle and a chance to work with senior stakeholders while building a holistic view of how private deals are structured and managed

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience; internships considered.
  • Exposure to buy-side or sell-side trading environment preferred.
  • Fixed Income knowledge required; residential loan or consumer asset class desirable.
  • Compliance experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with PMs and cross-functional teams to ensure policy and process completion before close.
  • Assist deal desks with pipeline management and deal setup in DealCloud.
  • Coordinate with Ops, Finance, Tax, Risk, and Compliance on liquidity timing and reporting.
  • Support quarterly Origination and Asset Management reporting.

This role sits at the center of PIMCO’s private alternatives platform, partnering directly with Portfolio Managers (PMs) to drive the execution and oversight of investment activity from pipeline through close.The Associate will play a central role in supporting deal execution and transaction management across the private alternatives platform. This role is critical in ensuring transactions move efficiently from pipeline through close, with full alignment across Trading, Legal, Operations, Finance, Tax, Risk, and Compliance.This position offers exposure across the full investment lifecycle—from pipeline management and deal setup through execution and post-close processes. The Associate acts as a key integrator across teams, ensuring that all operational, compliance, and risk requirements are met without slowing deal velocity.Beyond coordination, this role provides a unique opportunity to develop a holistic understanding of how deals are structured, executed, and managed on the buy side, while working directly with investment teams and senior stakeholders.ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Liaise with PM and all relevant support groups (Legal/Ops/Finance/Tax/Risk/Compliance/Trading) to ensure all internal policies and processes have been completed prior to closeWork with Trade Assistants and Trade Compliance to ensure smooth trade flow processCoordinate with all groups on the NST checklist process and completionAssist PMs with Desk’s deal pipeline management – including deal setup in DealCloud, monitoring and updating settlement information, coordinating with Alts Operations and Alts Finance on timing for liquidity purposes, as well as verifying pipeline info is properly flowing through to downstream reporting and work-streamsDeal Tagging updates – coordinate with Trade Assistants and Alts Finance on appropriate tagging in the Fund Custodian and Risk systemsAssist Desk PMs in review of quarterly Origination and Asset Management reportingRespond to ad-hoc requests from Portfolio Management and other groups, as necessaryQualifications1-3 years of experience; strong, relevant internship experience will be consideredExposure to a buy-side or sell-side trading environment preferredWorking knowledge of Fixed Income. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors.
