Job summary

SCOR is seeking an Associate Actuary in Charlotte, NC to validate, calibrate, and project experience used to optimize inforce contracts. You will support the VP, Inforce Management with actions to senior leadership and contribute to cross-functional inforce analyses.

The role offers a hybrid work policy, relocation within the U.S. is available, and a competitive pay range. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.

Qualifications

  • ASA/FSA designation preferred; participation in Actuarial Student Program until FSA obtained.
  • 3–5 years of life insurance actuarial experience.
  • BA/BS in mathematics, actuarial science, or related field.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in SQL and VBA; MS Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Validate, calibrate, and project experience for optimization decisions.
  • Review treaty terms and pricing files.
  • Perform premium validations.
  • Update inforce analytics models.
  • Communicate project progress and impediments and next steps.
  • Identify actuarial risks for dashboards.
  • Analyze alternatives for underperforming business.
  • Assist team with ad hoc requests.
  • Participate in the Actuarial Student Rotation program.

Associate Actuary - Inforce Optimization

Job Description

Responsible for validating, calibrating, and projecting experience used by the VP, Inforce Management to recommend specific actions to senior management to optimize underperforming treaties.

The Inforce Optimization Department is a dynamic, collaborate, evolving department that provides opportunities to work on joint actions and independent work assignments.

Responsibilities
  • Provide timely and accurate actuarial support for actions to be taken by SCOR to optimize its inforce block
  • Review treaty terms, assumptions, and pricing files
  • Perform premium validations to ensure client companies are paying correct premiums
  • Update models that inform inforce analytics
  • Clearly communicate project progress and impediments and recommend next steps
  • Identify and report actuarial risks as required for the group and legal entity risk dashboards
  • Analyze various courses of action on underperforming business that management may consider in selecting the optimal approach
  • Assist team in completing ad hoc requests
  • Participate in the Actuarial Student Rotation program
  • Other duties as required and based on experience level
Qualifications
  • ASA/FSA designation preferred. ASA level encouraged to participate in the Actuarial Student Program until FSA is obtained.
  • At least 3-5 years of life insurance actuarial experience (reinsurance experience a plus)
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent in mathematics or actuarial science or related field
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with proven track record of strong problem-solving
  • Prior Actuarial software experience with demonstrated ability to understand complex models
  • High level of computer literacy: strong skills in MS Office, particularly Excel, and proficient in SQL and VBA.
  • Highly motivated, curious self-starter
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to understand and consider broad picture while researching details
  • Understand pricing, valuation methods, and financial results
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to identify and implement departmental processes and controls and ensure appropriate documentation

PayRangeforrolesperformed in NC: $109,500-$134,000 basesalaryperyear.Actualsalariesmayvarybasedonvariousfactorsincludingbutnotlimitedtolocation,experience,roleandperformance. TherangelistedisjustonecomponentofSCOR'stotalcompensationpackageforemployees.Otherrewardsmayincludeannualbonuses,short-andlong termincentives.
