Job summary

Ameritas is seeking an actuarial professional to provide actuarial services to create, support, maintain, and measure insurance products, including DI product development and management. This hybrid role involves Lincoln, NE or Cincinnati, OH work locations with some from home.

You will interpret complex financial information for FP&A, Corporate Actuarial, and senior management, perform stress testing, develop models, and collaborate cross-functionally to enable risk-adjusted decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related field.
  • ASA certification is required.
  • Actuarial modeling experience including Prophet modeling.
  • SQL programming experience preferred.
  • Programming with VBA, R, or Python preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage DI products and initiatives with quarterly analysis and data interpretation.
  • Perform CFT, ORSA, financial planning and other major modeling projects using actuarial models.
  • Design and implement DI product development enhancements to drive business results.
  • Foster a high performing culture across associates and resources.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional initiatives including Financial Planning and modeling.
  • Respond to information requests from actuaries, accountants, auditors, management and stakeholders.
  • Perform stress testing and scenario analysis to support strategic decisions.
  • Develop and monitor actuarial models; participate in governance and changes.
  • Test and maintain models; assist in setting actuarial assumptions.
  • Compile/analyze data with statistical methods and maintain documentation.

Job description

Provide actuarial services to create, support, maintain, and measure insurance products. Responsible for providing actionable information, enabling good business decisions while designing and managing project initiatives and business processes.

Create information and develop intelligence so that business leaders can make informed, risk-adjusted decisions on Disability Income (DI) product development and DI product management. Interpret complex financial information for various audiences (FP&A, Corporate Actuarial, and Individual Division senior management).

This is a hybrid role working partially in-office (Lincoln, NE or Cincinnati, OH) and partially from home.

What you do:
  • Manage DI Products and Initiatives:

  • Manage risk and ensure the appropriate level of profitability through quarter end analysis and actuarial data analytics, visualization, and interpretation.

  • CFT (cash flow testing), ORSA (own risk solvency assessment), financial planning, and other major modeling projects; use actuarial models and interpret results for upper management.

  • Design and implement DI product development enhancements to achieve business results.

  • Create a high performing culture through associate and business resources.

  • Develop partnerships within the organization to engage in cross-functional business initiatives including the Financial Planning process, modeling initiatives, or product initiatives.

  • Respond to requests for information from actuaries, accountants, auditors, management, and other associates including external stakeholders. Provide actuarial analysis where appropriate.

  • Perform stress testing and scenario analysis to equip management to make strategic decisions.

  • Develop best-in-class actuarial models:

  • Monitor and evaluate model development change requests. Participate in actuarial model development and related model governance compliance.

  • Design, test, and maintain actuarial models for the specified actuarial purpose. Assist in the setting of actuarial assumptions.

  • Compile and analyze data; using statistical formulas and other actuarial methods. Maintain solid model documentation to support model governance.

What you bring:
  • 4-7 years of related experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related field required.
  • Actuarial modeling experience required; Prophet modeling experience strongly preferred.
  • ASA (Associate, Society of Actuaries) required.
  • FSA (Fellow, Society of Actuaries) desired.
  • MAAA (Member of the American Academy of Actuaries) desired.
  • SQL programming experience preferred.
  • Programming experience preferred; VBA, R, Python or related experience desired.
