Role Description

The Associate will be a full-time, on-site team member based in Columbus, OH, focusing on employment law matters for employee-side clients. Day-to-day responsibilities include meeting with clients, assessing potential claims, drafting pleadings and motions, conducting legal research, and preparing demand letters and position statements. The Associate will participate in negotiations, mediations, and court appearances, while collaborating with senior attorneys on strategy and case management. This role also involves managing case files, communicating regularly with clients, and contributing to firm initiatives that improve processes and client service.

Qualifications

• Active license to practice law in Ohio, or eligibility for admission, and a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Demonstrated experience or strong interest in employment law, including issues such as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage-and-hour claims.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to draft clear, persuasive pleadings, motions, and correspondence.
• Effective client communication and counseling abilities, including interviewing, fact-gathering, and explaining legal options in a supportive manner.
• Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the capacity to handle multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Professionalism and sound judgment when dealing with sensitive and emotionally charged workplace issues.
• Comfort with on-site collaboration, including working closely with colleagues, support staff, and firm leadership.
• Litigation experience, mediation experience, or clerkships in employment or civil rights law are preferred but not required.
