Description

Chroma Color in McHenry, IL is hiring for a fulltime shipping and receiving associate which is an hourly position. Most benefits start day 1 and hours are 6am to 2:30pm with flexibility depending on truck loads.

The Shipping & Receiving Associate is responsible for preparing and shipping outgoing items and for handling incoming freight. They perform their duties with accuracy and efficiency, keeping proper records, and ensuring a safe, organized, and clean work environment. This is an entry-level position that performs duties with some oversight, direction and assistance, particularly when situations depart from the norm.

Follow instructions and processes to move materials and load/unload trucks per specifications, meeting deadlines and quality requirements.

Complete required paperwork and ensure process consistency.

Keep work area organized and safe at all times.

Comply with all EHS requirements.

Additional duties as assigned, including housekeeping and assisting in other areas.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 6 months' experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write basic, routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak team members and supervisors.

Mathematical Skills: Basic arithmetic skills in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute weight, volume, ratios, percentage, and unit conversions. Ability to understand unit pricing and shipment quantities and values, and make estimates. Basic understanding of geometry, including measurement and spatial relationships.

Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Intermediate keyboarding, computer navigation, and data entry skills; ability to use training (LMS) and safety compliance software/mobile apps, email, and MS Office; familiarity with inventory management software, supply chain management systems, and transportation management systems preferred.

Physical Demands: The employee is constantly required to hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, grasp and/or feel. They are frequently required to speak; reach with hands and arms, including overhead; bend and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. They are occasionally required to climb, balance, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
