Job summary

GPLA Structural Engineers and Builders, part of the DPR Family of Companies, is seeking an Associate Mechanical Designer. You will assist with mechanical drawings, specifications and calculations across project phases, collaborating with engineers and modelers to deliver coordinated designs.

Training is provided while you grow foundational drafting and modeling skills. Education requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or architectural engineering or related field, with an Engineer-in-Training

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, or related field required or equivalent experience.
• No experience required.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification in progress or intent to pursue preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in producing mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculations with clearly defined tasks.
• Develop basic mechanical layouts for HVAC, piping, and equipment systems per codes and standards.
• Perform drafting, layout, and documentation tasks with guidance from engineers and senior designers.
• Support construction administration activities, including shop drawing reviews and RFIs replies, under supervision.
• Use CAD software to create 2D drawings and assist with 3D mechanical models.

Job Summary

Responsible for mechanical design activities by assisting with drawings, specifications, and calculations throughout all phases of project design under close supervision. Assists in developing basic mechanical system layouts and documentation using foundational knowledge of mechanical principles and applicable codes. Collaborates with mechanical engineers, designers, and modelers to produce coordinated design deliverables while building technical proficiency. Supports construction administration activities as directed.

Key Responsibilities

• Assists in the production of mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculations with tasks that are specific and clearly defined.
• Supports development of basic mechanical layouts for HVAC, piping, and equipment systems using foundational knowledge of mechanical codes and standards.
• Performs basic drafting, layout, and documentation tasks with guidance from engineers and senior designers.
• Supports construction administration activities, including shop drawing review and responses to RFIs, under supervision.
• Utilizes CAD software to create 2D drawings and assist with development of 3D mechanical models.
• Collaborates with engineers, designers, and modelers to support coordinated and timely project delivery.
• Incorporates feedback and redline comments to improve technical skills and design accuracy.

Education Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.

Anticipated Starting Pay Range

$70,000.00- $99,000.00
