Assoc/Full Professor – Division Chief, Hematology & Oncology

Position Summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center seeks an outstanding physician‑leader to serve as Chief of the Division of Hematology & Oncology and Medical Director of the University Medical Center TLC² Foundation Cancer Center. The role involves strategic, clinical, academic and operational leadership for the division, the cancer center and affiliated service lines.

Career‑Defining Opportunity

The new 124,000‑sq‑ft comprehensive academic cancer center opened on April 20, 2026. It offers advanced radiation oncology, infusion and chemotherapy services, outpatient adult and pediatric oncology clinics, dedicated infusion and specialty pharmacies, research space and clinical trials (Phase I‑III), as well as integrative medicine services.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Provide strategic, clinical, academic, and operational leadership for the Division, the Center, and the service line.
  • Continue development of a premier multidisciplinary oncology program recognized regionally.
  • Direct multi‑disciplinary clinical services, spanning pediatric through adult, inclusive of surgery, radiation oncology, palliative care, and additional subspecialties, toward a team‑oriented, patient‑focused program.
  • Increase clinical trials (Phase I–III) and strengthen collaborations with NCI, DoD, CPRIT‑funded researchers, cooperative groups, and industry‑sponsored trials.
  • Advance academic scholarship efforts while increasing extramural funding.
  • Retain, recruit, mentor, and develop Hematology/Oncology faculty.
  • Advise and provide oversight of the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program.
  • Lead a practitioner, engage in direct patient care through ongoing clinical practice, inclusive of supervision and teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of clinical leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of research experience.
  • Demonstrated success in clinical trials.
  • Demonstrated success in scholarship.
  • Demonstrated success in extramural funding.
Required Qualifications
