Capital University in Columbus invites applications for the position of Assistant Cross Country/Track & Field Coach. This benefits-eligible role supports a NCAA Division III program for men and women, with responsibilities across coaching, recruiting, and day-to-day program operations.

The successful candidate will help recruit, develop championship-caliber athletes, foster positive team culture, and collaborate with the Director to uphold academic and athletic excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
• Coaching and/or competitive experience in track & field.
• Strong recruiting skills and NCAA Division III commitment.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extensive travel.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet driving requirements.
• Commitment to NCAA Division III mission.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and retain qualified student‑athletes with emphasis on field and multi‑event athletes.
• Develop and execute strategic recruiting plans to grow the program.
• Lead on-campus recruiting visits and tours with prospective student‑athletes and families.
• Assist admissions and enrollment processes.
• Act as primary coach for assigned event groups and develop training plans.
• Support travel planning, meet preparation, and compliance records.
