Job summary

Suffolk County Community College in Selden, NY seeks an experienced Assistant Vice President of Employee Relations to lead all aspects of employee relations, investigations, policy compliance, and guidance to college leadership, faculty and staff.

Reporting to the Vice President for Human Resources, this exempt role drives engagement, retention and continuous improvement, coordinating with Legal Affairs and Civil Rights offices, while ensuring adherence to collective bargaining agreements and

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Seven (7) years of experience in labor relations /human resources conducting investigations; supervisory experience required.
• Experience in a large complex unionized environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct confidential workplace investigatory interviews with complainants, respondents, witnesses; gather and review documentation and evidence.
• Prepare comprehensive investigative reports with findings and recommendations; implement early intervention strategies.
• Assist managers in establishing action plans to address performance issues.
• Serve as the subject matter expert to facilitate conflict resolutions and mediate disputes.
• Collaborate with Legal Affairs, Office of Equal Opportunity and Civil Rights on investigations and compliance matters.
