Job summary

The Olympia School District is seeking an Assistant Coach for the Middle School volleyball program to provide education, leadership and organization of the interscholastic team, under the head coach and athletic director. Candidates must have prior coaching experience with middle school athletes, knowledge of state rules, and current First Aid/CPR.

Training requirements (WIAA/OSD) must be completed within three weeks of the season.

Qualifications

Prior head or assistant coaching experience in the designated sport/activity.
Ability to motivate student athletes and communicate with individuals and groups from varied educational and cultural backgrounds.
Knowledge of middle school sports philosophy, sport rules and regulations.
Current First Aid/CPR certification and WIAA/OSD training within first weeks of season.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and organization for the assigned sport/activity as directed by the head coach and athletic director.
Provides direct ongoing supervision of all athletes and managers before/during/after practices, games and travel.
Maintains current knowledge of WIAA, state, league and district rules and regulations.
Ensures equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe condition and reports hazards.
Attends league meetings related to the assigned sport/activity as directed.
