Job description

A large construction and infrastructure organization is seeking an Assistant Vice President & Controller to lead accounting and financial operations across a portfolio of complex construction projects. This position will partner closely with operational and corporate finance leadership to strengthen financial controls, oversee project accounting, and provide reporting and analysis that supports strategic business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead accounting and finance functions supporting multiple construction projects and shared services.
• Partner with project and operational leaders from the bidding stage through project completion.
• Oversee project accounting, job costing, forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Manage the monthly close process, financial statements, variance analysis, and management reporting.
• Oversee financial activities for joint ventures, including lead and minority-interest arrangements.
• Develop annual operating budgets and support short- and long-term financial planning.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and company policies.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and required regulatory reporting.
• Lead, mentor, and develop teams across accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Prepare financial analyses and support strategic initiatives and special projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive senior-level accounting or finance experience.
• Construction or project-based accounting experience, including knowledge of job costing, project budgets, and financial reporting.
• Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing accounting or finance teams.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
• Strong financial analysis, forecasting, and communication skills with the ability to partner with operational and executive leadership.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting and financial reporting systems.Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across project locations.
• North American cross-border experience is a plus.

Compensation: $200,000-230,000

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
