Provisions Group is seeking an Assistant Vice President, AI Strategy & Transformation for a highly visible enterprise leadership opportunity within a complex, multi-entity organization.
This leader will own the strategy, governance, prioritization, and execution discipline behind a significant enterprise AI transformation portfolio.
The role sits at the intersection of AI strategy, business transformation, executive governance, portfolio management, and measurable value creation.
This is not a research-focused AI role and not a traditional program management position. We are looking for an operating leader who can turn AI strategy into execution, help senior executives make investment and prioritization decisions, and hold a portfolio of AI initiatives accountable for measurable business outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Own and advance the enterprise AI strategy, translating business priorities into a prioritized and accountable portfolio of AI initiatives.
- Lead the governance structure responsible for evaluating, prioritizing, scaling, stopping, or redirecting AI investments.
- Partner with executive, technology, clinical, operational, financial, security, compliance, and business leaders to identify and execute high-value AI opportunities.
- Establish clear ROI expectations and performance measures for AI initiatives, ensuring investments produce measurable financial, operational, clinical, or business outcomes.
- Lead executive-level AI governance meetings and bring forward clear recommendations, trade-offs, risks, and decisions.
- Create disciplined intake and stage-gate processes that move successful AI initiatives from pilot to enterprise adoption while quickly addressing initiatives that are not delivering results.
- Manage a portfolio of concurrent AI initiatives, maintaining visibility into performance, risk, resource requirements, and investment priorities.
- Evaluate AI platforms, vendors, and emerging technologies and help guide build-versus-buy decisions.
- Drive strong commercial discipline across AI vendor relationships, including clearly defined scope, deliverables, outcomes, and accountability.
- Establish continuous-improvement practices for the AI governance and delivery model itself.
- Ensure appropriate Responsible AI, security, privacy, compliance, risk, and human‑oversight standards are incorporated into AI initiatives.
- Build AI fluency across the organization and help business leaders translate emerging AI capabilities into practical use cases.
- Lead through influence across a matrixed organization while also personally driving high-priority initiatives forward.
Must-Haves
- 10+ years of enterprise transformation leadership, including 5+ years leading enterprise-wide or multi-business-unit transformation programs.
- Experience leading AI/ML, Generative AI, or enterprise AI initiatives from strategy through implementation and measurable results.
- Experience owning enterprise portfolio governance and prioritization, including ROI/KPIs, investment decisions, and stage-gate processes.
- Experience partnering with C‑suite/executive leadership and leading cross‑functional initiatives within complex, matrixed organizations.
- Experience in healthcare or another highly regulated industry.
What Will Make Someone Stand Out
- Experience applying AI within healthcare, including health plans, clinical operations, population health, revenue cycle, care management, or related environments.
- Experience developing or operating an enterprise AI governance model.
- Familiarity with Responsible AI, HIPAA, PHI, clinical AI safety, algorithmic bias, explainability, data privacy, and human‑in‑the‑loop controls.
- Experience managing a significant portfolio of concurrent AI, digital transformation, or emerging‑technology initiatives.
- Strong financial and commercial experience, including ROI modeling, value realization, vendor evaluation, contracting, and investment prioritization.
- Experience evaluating AI vendors and making build‑versus‑buy recommendations.
- Experience leading executive councils, governance boards, steering committees, or similar enterprise decision‑making bodies.
- Understanding of the data foundations required for enterprise AI, including data governance, data pipelines, model lifecycle management, monitoring, and model drift.
- Familiarity with regulatory considerations surrounding AI‑enabled products in healthcare environments.
- A player‑coach mentality with the ability to move comfortably between enterprise strategy and hands‑on execution.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means establishing an AI operating model that can consistently move ideas from opportunity to measurable business value.
The right leader will create a disciplined portfolio in which AI initiatives have clear ownership, expected outcomes, ROI measures, governance checkpoints, and defined decisions around whether to scale, adjust, or stop investment.
They will build credibility with both technology and business leaders by making AI practical, measurable, and accountable while ensuring risk, privacy, compliance, and Responsible AI considerations are incorporated throughout the process.
Just as importantly, this leader will help the organization become faster and more effective at deploying AI over time, continuously improving how opportunities are identified, evaluated, governed, implemented, and scaled.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to take ownership of an enterprise AI transformation program that has already moved beyond experimentation.
The organization has executive sponsorship, active AI initiatives, an established governance approach, and a mandate to produce measurable value from AI. The next step is bringing strategy, governance, business partnership, and execution together under a leader who can accelerate progress while maintaining the appropriate level of discipline and accountability.
For someone who wants to help shape how a large enterprise operationalizes AI, rather than simply advise from the sidelines, this is a unique leadership opportunity.
