The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Kansas seeks a highly qualified Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA) to join its team in the Wichita, Topeka, or Kansas City region. The selected candidate will handle cases across terrorism, crime, and civil enforcement with integrity and professionalism.

Requirements include a J.D. degree, active bar membership, U.S. citizenship, and strong research, writing, and litigation skills.

Our mission is to protect the citizens of Kansas from terrorism, crime, and unlawful discrimination, enforce federal laws and advance the interests of the U.S. government, provide Federal leadership and serve as a catalyst for improving law enforcement through training and public education, and perform our duties with integrity, professionalism and respect for the citizens we serve.

This position will be assigned to work in one of our three office locations: Wichita, Topeka, or Kansas City.

Required Qualifications:

• Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree and be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction).
• Applicants must have demonstrated computer literacy skills, including experience with legal research databases (such as Westlaw or Lexis), email, and word processing programs (such as Microsoft Word).
• United States citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Applicants should possess superior oral and written communication skills and should demonstrate incisive analytical ability, excellent judgment, and strong litigation skills.
• Applicants should be capable of managing complex, document intensive cases.
• Applicants should possess an interest and aptitude for technology and document automation.
