LeafSpring School at Ballantyne is seeking an Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our early learning community in Charlotte, NC. You will support a nurturing classroom, assist the Lead Teacher, and help implement play-based activities that foster social, emotional, and cognitive growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDA or enrollment in Early Childhood Education courses preferred.
• Friendly, patient and enthusiastic about working with young children.
• Understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP).
• Strong communication and a team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Support daily routines including circle time, story time, snack, outdoor play and rest time.
• Assist with lesson planning and curriculum implementation based on children’s developmental needs and interests.
• Supervise children during transitions, group play, and hands-on activities.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized classroom aligned with state licensing regulations.
• Encourage independence, self-help skills and social interaction through positive guidance strategies.
• Observe and document children’s behavior and milestones for communication with families and the teaching team.
• Provide age-appropriate support for infants, toddlers or preschoolers depending on classroom assignment.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a supportive, inclusive learning environment.

Your Role as an Assistant Teacher

As an Assistant Teacher, you’ll work closely with the Lead Teacher to deliver a nurturing, safe, and educational classroom environment for infants, toddlers, or preschool-age children. You’ll help implement play-based learning activities, manage classroom routines, and provide individualized attention that supports each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.
