The GEO Group is seeking a Transportation Officer Supervisor to ensure proper scheduling of officers and readiness of vehicles for detainee transport. You may perform Transportation Officer duties as needed and support training, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The role requires California certifications, a clean driving record, and strong leadership, reporting, and communication skills to maintain custody and regulatory standards within a correctional transportation setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; state prerequisites for employment.
• One year transportation experience.
• Valid California weapons permit and guard card.
• Valid California driver's license with CDL Passenger endorsement within 90 days.
• State firearms license (9mm).
• Knowledge of DOT Hours of Service and vehicle inspections.
• Ability to lead, train staff, and write reports.
• Must be a United States citizen; 21+ years old.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate scheduling of Transportation Officers and ensure vehicles are ready.
• Assume Transportation Officer duties when required.
• Assist in training Transportation Officers.
• Monitor operations to protect detainee care and custody.
• Maintain vehicle maintenance records and respond to accidents.
• Ensure weapon qualifications are current and DOT files are kept up to date.
• Prepare reports and maintain monthly billings and records.

Responsibilities

Role and Responsibilities:

You will ensure that Transportation Officers are properly scheduled to transport inmates and vehicles are ready and available. Please note that you may perform the duties of the Transportation Officer when necessary. Your functions will include to:

• Assist Transportation Supervisor or Manager in the training of Transportation Officers.
• Schedule Transportation Officers work assignments.
• Monitor the Transportation Officers during the preparation, leaving, and returning from the facility to ensure the care and custody of detainees.
• Ensure and review maintenance of all assigned vehicles.
• Respond, investigate, and prepare reports on any accidents by assigned Transportation Officers.
• Transport detainees in case of emergency or lack of Transportation/Perimeter Officers.
• Ensure Transportation Officers semi-annual weapons qualifications are current.
• Ensure all Mission Trackers are complete and accurate.
• Maintain documentation and supports record with monthly billings.
• Maintain Department of Transportation (DOT) files.
• Maintain regulatory knowledge by attending at least eight (8) hours per year of transportation or regulatory topics related to transportation activities.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required. Possession of applicable state requisites for employment
• One (1) year transportation experience.
• Must have a valid State of California weapons permit AND guard card.
• Must have a valid California Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement within ninety (90) days from appointment.
• Must possess a State Firearms License (9mm).
• Knowledge of DOT requirements for Hours of Service and Vehicle inspections.
• Ability to set standards and procedures to establish satisfactory levels of performance, quality and productivity.
• Ability to coordinate the demands of the transportation operations.
• Effective personnel interaction, communication skills, and problem-solving techniques.
• Sound and effective leadership skills.
• Ability to effectively train staff.
• Ability to write reports, memorandum, policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
• Must be a United States citizen.
• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age or older.

Physical Requirements:

• Occasionally: lift, carry, push, or pull up to 60 lbs. and above, bend, stoop, climb, and work in extreme temperatures.
• Frequently: lift or carry up to 40 lbs.; push or pull up to 60 lbs., reach above shoulder level, drive automatic equipment vehicles, work with machinery, walk, stand, sit.
