Job summary

Nazareth Prep is seeking an Assistant Track and Field Coach in Emsworth, PA. The role supports the Head Coach in developing student athletes, assisting with practices, meets, and program logistics, while fostering a safe and positive team environment.

The successful candidate will provide event instruction, help with athlete development, and collaborate with the Athletic Director to ensure compliance with policies and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience or competitive track and field experience preferred.
• Knowledge of track and field events, training methods, and safety protocols.
• Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills; ability to follow the direction of the Head Coach.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, meets, and training sessions.
• Provide instruction in assigned track and field events, supporting athlete skill development and safe technique.
• Reinforce team goals, expectations, and standards of conduct established by the Head Coach.
• Promote character, sportsmanship, discipline, and personal accountability.
• Support student-athlete academic accountability and communicate academic or eligibility concerns to the Head Coach.
• Assist with meet preparation, equipment, transportation coordination, and other program logistics as assigned.
• Communicate with student-athletes and families in coordination with the Head Coach.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, and assigned team activities; promptly report injuries or concerns.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive training environment and assist with care of equipment and facilities.
• Ensure compliance with school and applicable athletic association policies.

General Statement of Duties
The Assistant Track & Field Coach supports the Head Coach in developing student athletes and maintaining a safe, positive team environment. This position reports directly to the Head Track & Field Coach and assists with practices, meets, athlete instruction, and program logistics. The Assistant Coach carries out assigned responsibilities and works collaboratively with the Head Coach and Athletic Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience or competitive track and field experience preferred; ability to provide effective instruction and support to student-athletes.
• Knowledge of track and field events, training methods, and safety protocols.
• Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills; ability to follow the direction of the Head Coach.
• Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete character development and mentorship.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Must obtain and maintain Act 33, Act 34, and FBI fingerprint clearances.
• Experience working with youth in an educational setting is preferred.
• Willingness to complete additional requirements mandated by the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh and maintain compliance throughout the duration of employment.
