Job summary

maurices, located in Duluth, MN, seeks an Assistant Technical Designer to support fit development and pre-production across multiple product categories. You will maintain fit libraries, assist design teams, and collaborate with vendor TDs in a hybrid office setting.

You will help establish block development standards, analyze construction and grading, and contribute to cross-functional technical support. A Bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years in technical design are required.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent business experience in related area.
• Experience: 1-3+ years experience of technical design or manufacturing experience.
• Familiarity with fit development, grading, pattern balance, and construction techniques.

Responsibilities

• Maintain fit sample library throughout season and manage sample purge.
• Support Technical Designers in daily workflow including sample tracking and digital images.
• Collaborate with Vendor TDs in virtual fitting environment and assess fit remotely.
• Lead fit sessions and communicate corrections with support from manager.
• Establish and maintain block development, grading, and construction standards.
• Provide technical expertise to cross-functional teams on fit development and pre-production.
• Create/update blocks and patterns to ensure standards are met.
• Conduct competitive shop the market for size, fit, and labeling.

We currently have an opportunity for a Assistant Technical Designer to join our team located at our Corporate Office-maurices-Duluth, MN 55802.

Position Overview

Performance requirements

• Maintain fit sample library throughout season, and facilitate sample purge and season’s end
• Support Technical Designers in daily workflow on an as-needed basis including, but not limited to: sample tracking, sample measuring, digital images.
• Collaborate with Vendor TD’s in virtual fitting environment. Ability to critically assess fit, pattern balance, and construction performance remotely, with support of manager as needed.
• Lead fit sessions, analyze fit and accurately communicate corrections of assigned product areas, with support of manager as needed.
• Establish, monitor, and maintain: Block development, grading, and construction/workmanship standards for your product categories to ensure consistency across all vendor and factory bases
• Provide technical expertise and support to cross functional teams on fit development and pre-production activities
• Create, update, and utilize blocks and patterns to ensure standards are being met
• Competitive shop the market researching size, fit, construction techniques, and labeling

Work Experience And Education Requirements

Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent business experience in related area

Experience: 1-3+ years experience of technical design or manufacturing experience

Skills

• Basic understanding of pattern making/grading and how fabrics/trims affect the fit of the garment
• Developing critical eye for garment fit and necessary corrections, ability to establish and reinforce brand aesthetic with internal/external counterparts
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Possess strong written and verbal communication and critical thinking skills
• Basic skills in Web PDM or similar product management system, clear understanding of Adobe Illustrator drawing tool and Microsoft office software

Pay Range

Annual Salary: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00

This position is eligible for an annual incentive compensation based on company performance.
