Job Description

Summary:
The Assistant Teacher, Associates Degree Level, assists teachers with the instructional program through individual/small group tutoring and/or directing classroom activities within a computer lab. The Assistant Teacher, Associates Degree Level, performs duties under the general supervision of an immediate supervisor who evaluates performance through observation of work, periodic conferences, critiques, and/or records and reports.

Responsibilities:
· Administers pre- and post-tests for identified deficient standards/skills.

· Grades and files papers in student folders.

· Assigns appropriate worksheets and learning activities based on identified student needs.

· Tutors individual and small groups of students.

· Maintains records of student progress on assigned activities and worksheets.

· Replenishes and reproduces instructional materials and tests.

· Confers with teachers and assists teachers on student performance and instructional planning.

· Checks and maintains computer lab and equipment/supplies.

· Supervises student behavior with and without teacher assistance.

· Schedules students for computer lab and/or individual/small group instructional sessions.

· Participates in school activities and special events.

· Participates in conferences with parents of students.

· Performs any other duties as assigned.

Language Skills: Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence. Speaks effectively before groups of individuals.

Mathematical Skills: Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Computes rate, ratio, and percent and draws and interprets bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deals with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.

Lifting Demands: Up to 55 pounds.

Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
