An innovative educational organization in Newark, California, is seeking an Assistant Teacher to teach programs focusing on STEM concepts to children aged 2-14. This part-time role requires leading classroom activities and promoting creativity and problem-solving skills while working alongside lead Teachers. Applicants should have a degree or teaching experience, with current child clearances. The position typically involves working between 6-20 hours per week, including after-school classes and weekend workshops.

Qualifications

• Criminal and Child Clearances must be current.
• 0-1 years of experience working with children in a classroom or camp environment.
• Teachers pursuing a degree in education will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead groups of up to 24 students through curriculum-guided activities.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
• Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Snapology
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies
• Adequately prepare for each program by reading curriculum, watching training videos and/or participating in face-to-face training sessions
• Handle inquiries from parents regarding Snapology programs
• Encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Snapology programs
• Participate in periodic Snapology training & staff meetings, as required

Position:

The primary focus of an Assistant Teacher will be to teach Snapology programs alongside our lead Teachers. Assistant teachers are asked to promote creativity, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills while educating students on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) concepts. Programs are conducted for children ages 2-14 and you may be required to assist the lead teacher with all age groups depending on requirement. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology leadership as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism.

Role & Responsibilities:
